I know there's other locations but I come to this one because it is a lot closer to my house. Honestly, I don't like the food here whatsoever. If you want authentic mexican food, don't expect it from here. I come here for their SWIRLS. Best alcoholic beverage I've ever had. My favorite is the Sunrise Swirl. It does get pretty crowded. There's also outside seatings and heat lamps outside. Make sure you have a DD if you're planning on drinking the swirls. Inexpensive Drinks and gets the JOB DONE QUICK. I will be back for more swirls and chips and salsa.

Absolutely Love this location! Customer service has been On point every time. Last time I ate here, my order fell behind and was late. Not a big deal, I let the cashier know, they apologized and my food came out with in 5 mins, Plus some extra chips & salsa AND the cook sent over a dessert. Made my day.

I love coming here! (Especially for a girls night out) I enjoy the food and the swirls;) Aqui's is reasonably priced and has a decent menu. It's causal dining, so don't expect anything extraordinary from the the staff other than taking your order and wiping the table. If you get there after 6, plan on seating yourself outside, as seating is limited. However, the patio is covered and has heaters. If you don't like to dine in loud places, stay away. (Again, the patio is a good seating option, as it's quieter) This is a very spirited and lively place to dine and some patrons tend to "park" at the tables after they've long since finished their meal. This is my only real complaint, but I can't really blame the Resturant for the lack of courtesy by some patrons. Overall, if your looking for good food at a fair price, I highly recommend Aqui's .

if youre looking for authentic mexican food, this is not your place. food is not authentic and feels more "light" its an order first then seat yourself type of deal. a good hangout spot for some swirls that will leave you feeling SWIRLED! these delicous LOOKIN' drinks will creep up on you. not as tastey as it looks btw.

Swirls rock!!!! Food is much better than other famous Mex joints.

My hubby and I LOVE Aquis. We have been going here once a week - or more - since we discovered it. The staff is wonderful, they remember you, bring food out to the regulars, remember your "usual" and are always smiling / professional / sweet. We love them. The food is great. I'm a health nut - so I love their fresh/organic theme, and I love that they don't mind my menu change requests. Always something different, neat and tasty. We've never found anything weird on our plates, or had to send orders back because something about the food was wrong. Can't recommend this sweet spot more, give them a visit! Favorites: Salmon Taco Plate, Chicken Enchiladas, Thai Peanut Bowl w/ Salmon, BBQ Chicken Burrito, Vegetarian Burrito, EVERYTHING at their salsa bar!

We absolutely love Aqui. The food is savory, and extremely tasty while still being fresh and healthy. I have had some of the most delicious soups ever at Aqui. Thanks for great meals and a pleasant environment. If I have any complaint, I would turn down the music a bid because it gets a bit echoey!

Best food I've had in a long time. We were visiting from out of town and I am so bummed we don't have one of these near us. The food was fresh and delicious. The flavors were fun and new. I tried the grilled salmon in the "smaller dishes" section and asked for the sauce on the side. You should too! It was amazing. The fritter it came with was to die for, and the green beans were crunchy and fresh. A little pricey but worth it! And the patio area was gorgeous and relaxing.

This place compared to the willow glen location is a joke. Slow service, lack of management, lazy employees, terrible customer service. If you don't care about those issues then go here, otherwise drive 4 miles to the willow glen location. Should I take a picture of the employees standing around chatting while there's a line of customers waiting.... Sure the manager would love that

I love this place, food is ridiculous and after today they have won me as a loyal customer by making a mistake but handling it perfectly. They gave me the wrong takeout order and I did not notice until I got back to work, gave them a call and not only were they very apologetic and offered to make me a fresh one. She even told me should would refund what I had paid. I didn't have to ask, and regardless that's not what I was getting at but it's nice to see a business realize that you had to go out of your way and offer compensation for it, because mistakes do happen its just how its resolved that matters to me. I have had a lot of bad experiences with places not getting my food correct and then proceeding to treat me as if I had done it myself, so thanks Aqui's!!!!

Fresh and clean Cal-mex food. My wife and I have spent way too much time and money at this location (before we moved). Order a margarita on the rocks at the bar and make sure you have a DD. Order an Aqui Sampler, grab an extra bowl for salsa. Free chip refills so be generous with others at your table. Everything I've ordered had fresh, clean flavors. If you want a real treat, hit them up for Sunday Brunch and you'll find yourself starting a new tradition.

Avocado dip for starters, and the cowboy steak salad doesn't disappoint. The margaritas are potent as well. A definite go to kick back place. I like all the locations.

I will NEVER return to this location again! The only reason why i gave them one star is because I had to but anyways, A couple months ago I was out with my boyfriend and I had 2 of these (obviously strong) drinks they call swirls with my dinner. I love the food here and used to rave about the tofu rollups...I didn't think the drinks would get me as tipsy as they did so I decided to act responsibly and take a cab home. I came back around 9 AM to find that my car had been TOWED!! For leaving my car for less than 12 hours cost me $372!! I was trying to do the right thing and avoid drinking and driving and I get punished for it?? What I don't get is why would they make such strong drinks and when their customers are unable to drive, have them suffer the consequences? Not only did I have a horrible time getting my car out of the impound but my once positive views upon this location have now been shattered! I'm very disappointed. I feel it's only right for me to let others know about my story so they can avoid the repercussions. I will never return to this location ever again. Unless you can afford money for a cab to and from or, have a DD I suggest you don't come here either. They will have your car towed! Spread the word! Thank you for reading.

Swirls review only. I have yet to try the food, so I apologize for lack of information in that department. I tried the sangria and sunrise swirl, they run about $7.50 for a glass. Decently price considering you won't need that many to be having a ball! All I have to say is if you're ready for an adult drink than these industrial strength margaritas will get you good. Swirls will definitely get you swirly-buzzed, hehe! Have two and you're done. :) Great place to loosen up with some friends but I haven't attempted to come around dinner time. I heard it gets pretty packed so we try to go in the late or early afternoon on the weekends. You order and pay at the counter as they prepare your swirl. Next, choose the table you'll be occupying for the next couple of hours!

  • Bryce B.

Let's be honest here: You don't come to Aqui for the food, you come here for the incredibly potent drinks. One Swirl will make you pretty happy. A second might have you doing things you may regret later. They claim not to sell you a 3rd, but considering the level of drunkenness I've witnessed (and, well, participated in myself) I suspect it's possible to get another and really get stupid. But, again, the food is merely average at best. Maybe if the food were better, the drinks wouldn't be so effective.

Good guac, salsa and humus. Bland bean dip. Crab cakes large but didn't seem to have much crab. Refried beans also bland. They do not skimp on the tequila in the the margaritas, Holy Moley.

This is one of my favorites these days! The food is fresh, mostly locally-sourced and just delicious! We try to eat health-conscious and this is often a stop right after the gym, after a long day at work. There is a ton of selection (including vegetarian!), the food is excellent and it is low guilt! : ) And another bonus is that every 3-4 months they change up their menu, and that variety is nice. It is a wonderful place to go for large groups, especially since you order cafeteria style. Everyone can pay in small groups or individually with no fuss at all. The food is cooked to order, always fresh and whether it is eat in or takeout, it is quick and easy. The seating is first come, first served. There is a very large covered patio that is pleasant to eat at. Shaded for warm days, tons of heat lamps for cooler days. We had my daughter's baby shower there on a Saturday at 11am. We checked with staff ahead of time and were given the thumbs up to bring in our own cake and to just grab the area we wanted. We did a few shower games, took pictures, had lunch and then our cake. It was so easy and my daughter and her friends all loved it. A person can get a great meal for under $10. In particular every wrap I've ever had is wholesome, nutritious and delicious. The wraps are large and filling, and I usually get the mango walnut salad with fresh made mango dressing that is really fantastic. The chips have always been fresh and the salsa bar has a good selection, though we usually stick with the fresh pico de gallo. Good selection of regular drinks, and the bar always seems busy (though we don't tend to drink there) and most of the time people are watching sports on that side. Their dessert menu is pretty light, though we don't really do dessert, so that's not an issue. The only thing I would change is maybe add some more variety of soup. I only eat vegetarian and rarely fish, and there isn't much of a selection for soup. Give it a shot! : )

decent food, famous for the swirl drinks... they are very strong and sugary so more than 2 and you will probably have a hangover.

SWIRLY SWIRLS. One got me nicely buzzed- absolutely the BEST (and cheapest) buzz ever! I recommend the Sunrise Swirl!

  • Mary Y.

The taquitos here are delicious!! They used RED corn which is something I've never seen before. There's a nice dollop of guacamole too that comes with the entree. Gotta come here for Happy Hour!! Great deals at the bar. My friend comes here all the time and recommended the SUNRISE SWIRL. It was refreshing, sweet & fruity -- just the way i like! I'm told the Industrial Strength margaritas are crazy. They also have mojitos & sangria drink options. My friend ordered this beef dish that was flavorful and tender. The sweet potato croquette-thingy that came with her dish was yummy!!

I just can't get over the mouth watering swirls! Except I have to bc I swear it made me pack on a few pounds.. those swirls are dangerously delicious, dangerously intoxicating and dangerously gluteny! This is my "go-to" after a hard week of work. Their swirls are so cheap , so worth it! It gets the job done right and fast. They say 3 is the max but I am trippin balls after half a glass. Their steak burrito is a must try with their chipotle sauce. Mmmmm! Oh their chips and salsa and guacamole is really tasty too! I have yet to try anything else honestly. I know I should but I'm so content with ordering what I order every time I go.. LOL Though, I am overdue on some swirls.. only because I know it's also packed with sugar. On a not-so-good-note: Super busy! It hard finding a table to sit and hang out with your homies. You sit where you can, and when someone gets up, you have to steal their chair for your friends.

We moved away 9 years ago and this was one of our local favorites. I can say this is one of the few truly unique places in San Jose that has maintained a quality of food and service that is just outstanding. We got take out tonight and it was fabulous. The Chicken Verde, and Salmon salad were delicious. A Foodie's delight!

I came here for lunch with a few friends on a Friday. When we walked in, I noticed there was already a small line of customers waiting to order. We stood in line while looking over the menu. I wanted to eat healthy, so I ordered the apple-walnut salad with chicken ($8.59). The salad had apples, walnuts, cranberries and mango served over organic greens and grilled crostini. I requested to have the salad dressing on the side, too. After I paid, I was given a pager, which would alert me when my food is ready. Me and my friends decided to find a table and wait for our food. My salad was prepared really fast, since I only had to wait a few minutes. When I got my salad, I noticed there were a lot of chicken breast. =) I was expecting the chicken to be cold, but it was warm! I really liked the mangos, chicken, cranberries, and walnuts in the salad. The apples were a bit sour, so I didn't like it..lol. The apples had some sort of sauce on it, too. The salad came with 3 crostini pieces, which was just toasted bread. The bread was crunchy. =) Overall, I enjoy coming here for some healthy choices. There is a huge parking lot in front, too.

I love Aquis. They change their menu all the time so I love trying the specials and getting their refillable aqua frescas. Industrial margaritas and swirls are STRONG so beware but its a must try. Wish they were open later so my friends and I would have a closeby bar to go to!

My boyfriend loves this place, so I gave it a shot recently. We ordered two types of rollups; his with a side of soup and mine with the mango walnut salad. His soup was an odd mix of what seemed to be two different soups (not what he ordered) and my salad had hair in it and was accompanied by a small bug crawling from the organic greens. Ick. The rollups were alright, but the crab cake one was stuffed with more jicama than anything so I probably wouldn't order that again. The chicken rollup was better. It's also a pretty noisy place, so anyone sensitive to loud noise might want to steer clear. Overall, I was fairly disappointed. I might come back to try something else and avoid the salad... but I'm in no rush to do so.

Amazing Restaurant with very good vegetarian options. The fusion of Meican food with other cuisines is excellent. They even have organic food on the menu.

This Aquis is definitely one of the better locations. The salmon-anything is delicious. I haven't tried the other dishes, because I'm too addicted to the fish haha I like that the service is fast and efficient and the crowd is always lookin like they're having a good time. It must be those stiff drinks :) Reasonably priced food and drinks with good service. Hard to go wrong with that ;)

I love the bartender here (with the stretched ears) he is awesome, friendly, attentive, just right. I always love their specials. Great food, great atmosphere. They need more bartenders for Friday happy hour. I hate waiting in line for an 80 cent discount at the bar! Lol of course you can't beat their margaritas...how do you guys do it?!? Top notch. Don't have more than 2, they sneak up on ya!!!

Aqui's doesn't disappoint... They've got an inventive, playful and constantly changing menu. They take traditional cal-mex food and blend new flavors into some great concoctions. This was my second time at this location and the food was great, came out fairly quickly. Will go back as the food is great.

    (4)
  • Charles S.

Wonderful food, brilliant atmosphere. Fresh ingredients, kind, friendly staff. What could possibly make this place better? Table service. I really don't like cattle call ordering lines. However? I will put up with it at Aqui. And? awesome patio.

  • Ben H L.

I upgrade this Aqui over Willow Glen because it is a bit more open and has more parking. The Willow Glen one has the bar separate and during happy hour, the bar becomes a crazy ass scene. It's easier to get around and it totally makes a difference especially when they get busy. It's too bad this is too far away from my place to make it worth the drive. Would come back again if I was passing through.

This place is wonderful. I love the fresh, organic, and healthy food served by the Cal-Mex restaurant. I am from Texas and love Tex-Mex. This isn't Tex-Mex, but I love this take on Mexican food. If you are looking for fresh, healthy, Mexican food with a California twist, then this is the place for you.

This place has great food but get her early as the place fills up fast. It can use a bigger place. The outdoor area is a great place to eat on a summer evening.

  • Jean F.

Fresh, NOT! We went expecting a good meal and got something that felt like it had sit for days or maybe reheated? Old rice on the bottom layered with so many un tasteful things that I couldn't finish. Hubby had the salmon which was also distasteful and probably means it was frozen. Interesting to note that it was a bit crowded, probably because of the bar, but we only saw one bartender serving a lot of peeps. I just don't get it. We've been before for the mango salad which was good so thought we'd try again with something else, fail. Will we go back? Take a guess.

  • Mahesh P.

Avoid Aqui on Friday evenings. WORST place to go for family sit down dinner. Too crowded, no place to sit. Food is EXCELLENT, but not worth the fighting like a dog to get a table. IF you go regularly to Aquis, you know exactly what I mean. The system to get a table to eat just is terrible. They keep serving people even if there is no table to sit and eat on. Worst of all, I had an employee impersonate as the Restaurant manager, and tell me to leave, if I could not find a table, instead of helping me find a table. On top of it he says, what can I do, this is our :policy', take it or leave. WOW, that is really a terrible way to talk to customers. Very sad. This is not what I expected of Aquis. I will take my business elsewhere, where I am truly respected.

  • James S.

INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH Margarita = Game Over The price of food here is quite expensive for a Mexican restaurant so if you want to eat some Mexican food I suggest you hit up a taqueria then mozy on to Aqui for some drinks. Warning the max of those margaritas is at 2 and they are creepers because you can down 2 of those unimposing drinks you'll ever have then all of the sudden feel like you will have to order some chips and salsa. Your stay at Aqui just got a little bit longer. Would I be back? If I go with the same group to NorCal, it looks like they'll be stopping here.

    (4)
  • Amanda M.

I freaking love this place! Margaritas will knock you on your behind! Love the sangria swirl! They don't call it industrial strength for nothing! Limit yourself to two at the most. I did three one time, oooh doggy! Hot mess right there. Their menus switch it up all the time due to seasonal availability and chefs trying out new concoctions. I do miss their Chicken Tuscan Rollup, but hey everything is pretty bomb. Word to the wise - sometimes they put pumpkin seeds in their quesadillas ... hence the reason I never get them. Other than that, all daily specials and regulars are pretty fantastic!

    (5)
  • Melissa R.

Everytime I hit up Aqui's, I make sure that I don't drive. Haha! Their swirls.... super strong! But me likely. It gets the job done. Food is delish.. They even offer sour cream at the condiment bar... usually places charge for an extra side of sour cream. But not this place! The chipotle dressing, their hot sauces & salsas are really good. Love the whole chill, gourmet dining feel to it.

YUM! My friend was telling me about how much i need to try their Industrial Strength Margaritas for a long time now. The other day we came here for lunch since our original lunch plans didn't go through. I tried the Knife and Fork Salmon Burrito and I lovvveeed it! I'm not much of a big burrito fan because a lot of places have tortilla that overpowers the taste of the contents inside the burrito. It was a wet burrito with some pesto sauce drenched over it. I sure enough devoured that HUGE burrito in no time. It had a good portion of salmon inside and was moderately priced at $9.99. My friends ordered some bottomless chips and dip which they shared with the table. Tortillas seem to be freshly made. I tried the Sangria Swirl which was HOLY COW strong. Only $6 and it was definitely the bang for my buck. Pretty much put me in a mini coma when i got home. Nice location thats easy to find. It was a nice day so we got to sit outside in the patio and enjoy the weather. I always imagined this was a sit-down and be served restaurant but you actually grab a menu, go order and get a buzzer to pick up your food. The inside is a lot bigger than i thought, lots of TVs so you can enjoy your sports games while you get your eat and drink on.

I love to go to Aqui's! Great food and drinks. I only wish they were open later.

  • Samy L.

Went here with some friends to catch up! We had a fun time. Their swirls are so tasty and so strong... they creep up on you! They actually creep up pretty quick haha. The sunset one tastes the best to me but also because I don't really like sangria and the third one, you can taste the alcohol more. The food is pretty good... the one I ordered wasn't too great. The drinks were pretty good though which is why I'm giving it 4 stars! The atmosphere in here was cool but the happy hour wasn't too great either. My friend and I got it in the last 3 minutes and it was only about a dollar off or so.. I guess because they're already pretty cheap, around $6.

You know, I really like Aqui but my husband thinks it is just ok. He prefers baja fresh and la vic so what does he know:) This Aqui is MUCH bigger than the other ones however the service isn't as good and the wait time is longer. That is why 3 stars. I've had many different things off the menu and have to say I haven't been disappointed once. It, like most Mexican/TexMex places, is very loud so don't go for a quiet evening. My fave here is the cilantro rice with anything... as is my daughter's. She LOVES that rice! The chicken meals are all worth trying as is the salmon (so I am told).

    (3)
  • Amanda K.

This Aqui is one of my favorites because it never has a wait. When I go to Aquis, I get something different every time because the daily specials they put out are too tempting not to try! They also recently added a brunch menu which is super bomb. I for one love their Mimosa Swirls! One thing to note about this location is that the air conditioning is always on extremely high inside, so make sure to bring a coat/sweater or you're going to freeze! They have outdoor seating too if you want some sunshine.

  • Victoria M.

It's probably been about 11 years since I've been to Aqui's, but I went to dinner w/ 2 of my girlfriends & since we knew they had happy hour specials - decided to try it out. We got there & it was super packed. So, we walked to the back to sit out in the patio, but kinda got confused as to where to be seated since a lot of the tables were either bunched up or not cleaned off & yet we didn't see the staff walking around. So we walked inside & luckily saw one of the kids who worked there - asked him to clean off the table we wanted to sit at and then stood in line. They ordered wraps, & I had a Salmon Taco - then went outside to seat ourselves. It was nice - a bit crowded & loud for our liking - & the fact that people had kids out there kinda killed it for us too. There was also a bunch of obnoxiously loud & intoxicated teenagers who were literally screaming out to each other (no, not talking) but when we looked over, they had their parents w/ them so that was a little weird! Like if you're gonna let your teens drink, that's fine - but do it at home! Now about the food, the girls said that their wraps were tasty - my salmon was cooked perfectly! As for the sides - the mango was okay - nothing to boast about & the beans were kind of tasteless (black) - but other than that everything was mehhh okay for me. I feel like the food was really bland! The prices were decent - I just don't think I'll be back here anytime soon.

After hearing so many things about this place, I decided to pay it a visit. Super packed anytime around dinner. The food was very savory and complemented well by the Swirls! I'll have to come back for happy hour some time soon!! Very nice hangout!

INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH MARGARITAS!!! I stumbled upon this place 3 years ago and I fell in love with their margaritas, it does the job and pretty decent priced for the quality that U get. I'm not a fan of their food selections but chips & salsas are bomb here! I tried to stay away from their Mai Tais or anything U'd normally get cuz they tend to be too strong to even sip. Overall, this is a cool place to hang out and catch some sports, good chips & salsa and cheap margaritas.

  • Jen S.

Love this place, I enjoy the food... the avacado dip is amazing. Of course the swirls are great too, they are why 90% of the people come here in the 1st place. The only 2 issues I have is the hours & the seating. They close at 10pm and to pretty much be a bar that happens to serve great food, they should maybe stretch it a little later, I would like midnight.. in case anyone was wondering. And seating, this place has always been fairly busy everytime I'm there, I wish they had more seating, a bigger patio, something!!

I have a couple of friends that absolutely love Aqui. I joined them for lunch this week, and I still don't get it. Nothing really jumped out at me as I was perusing the menu. I tried the chicken avocado wrap that came with a cup of soup. One friend had the mango salad w/risotto mushroom roll up, and the other tried the steak teriyaki burrito. It was okay. Not great, not bad, just okay. Aqui's is literally down the street from my house, but even with that convenience, I just don't feel the draw to go.

  • Tracy Joy K.

I love this place. It has a different feel and style than a lot of the cal-mex places that I have been too. They take a really fresh approach and by fresh I mean that their ingredients taste very fresh and everything seems a whole lot healthier than your typical mexican cuisine. I come here when I'm feeling for something that I'm going to feel good after. I love anything with polenta and they serve it well here in the salads and also in a couple of the burritos they have. My recommendation to anyone coming here would be to look at the specials that they have as well, the specials change and may offer different tastes. The price I think is fair and depending on what you order the portions are just right. I would recommend this place more for a lunch-time outing than a dinner. It's a nice place to have lunch and I've heard a lot of great things about their happy hour which I hope to try out very soon!

  • Monique M.

I used to come here all the time for those dangerous swirls. But after realizing how many empty calories were in each one and the major headaches I would get from all the sugars I decided no more. I don't drink swirls anymore so I never go for the those. But they do have a full bar and make other strong drinks. As for the food the goat cheese quesadilla, hummus, and salmon salad are SO GOOD. I usually order those when I am there. =)

i came to this place bc the wife was looking for a healthy dinner and close to home. this place is b z. noise factor = loud. service = the food comes fast. its like hybrid of fast food. yet its almost like dining out. however you pick up you're own meal. food quality = it has organic food menu as well as a normal. cost = under 12 bucks a plate. a good place for people with a family. would i come back? sure y not!

This is review for two different days.....I went recently for lunch and had a great Chicken Avocado tortilla roll-up! While I appreciate them updating their menus, for dinner, on March 13th, I had the updated Grilled Salmon. I am not happy about the change to the Grilled Salmon small plate. The plate used to have polenta and Blue Lake green beans with some sauce. Now it comes with a fried sweet potato fritter and it drenched with sauce. Maybe this is my opportunity to be adventurous with other menu items????

I regularly come here with my friends and their family. It's California-influenced Mexican food. For a while, I regularly ordered the taquitos until my friend reminded me that I got that the previous 2 times. I've had their daily specials and burritos, but I'm currently favoring their large plates. Last week, I had the pork chile verde and it was one of the best dishes I've ever had there. The braised carnitas were not overdone and the tomatillo sauce was a nice finish to the meat. The pepitas salsa added texture while the black beans and jasmine rice were perfect accompaniments. The cheese quesadilla wasn't necessary, but I'll take it anytime. Their salsa bar had plenty of options including a habanero mango plus I added a little more sour cream and some heat in the form of jalapenos. They also serve agua fresca which was orange mango this time. If you want something with a bit more kick, they have frozen margaritas, sangria, swirlie (combo), as well as traditional drinks served at the bar. There's plenty of seating including a patio in the back. Since it's in a strip mall, there's plenty of parking. They tried out serving breakfast for a while, but I'm glad it never affected the rest of their food!

I've been eating here at this same Aqui's for over 10 years now and the food quality, pricing, service, cleaniness, and friendliness of the staff are just outstanding. You cannot get a better quality and selection of healthy Cal-mex food anywhere. Plus the prices are absolutely amazingly low. How they can afford to put out such awesome quality food and still make a profit it's beyond me. Perhaps the Swirl sales make up the difference...lol. Bottom line: Amazing Food, awesome prices. Love it.

Love, love, love everything Aqui stands for: Organic, healthy Cal-Mex, fast service, inexpensive, good portion sizes, great atmosphere (although it gets pretty loud in the evening, especially outside and especially on the weekends, so if that's not your thing, watch out). It's a great go-to regular for my fiancé and me, one of our fav's! MUST try the swirls! They are good and strong. We always share one, I don't know how people can drink the whole thing themselves!

I don't get the hype. It's for white people that never had authentic Mexican food before, I guess. I'm not into froo froo girly drinks such as Swirls. Negative 2 stars.

I really do love this place but SAME FRIDAY SPECIAL 4 MONTHS IN A ROW?!?!??!?!?!?!?!? Come on... seriously? Is there some special on buying mahi mahi bulk I don't know about. Please, put it on the regular menu if your'e going to have it as a "special" every Friday for ever - its really not the definition of "special" is it now? I'm obviously annoyed. Fix it.

I used to live next to the Campbell location of Aqui (and already wrote a review for that one), but one day my girlfriend and I were looking for somewhere to meet up near her work, and we found another location of Aqui neatly nestled away just off the 85 freeway. The ambiance here is almost identical to the Campbell location. The restaurant itself looks like a "hip" Mexican villa, with Latin American-inspired modern art hung on the walls. Metal chairs are sat next to wooden tables. Again like the Campbell location, your experience starts with ordering at the counter, and being given a restaurant pager for when your order is ready. Service at the counter is very friendly and helpful, happy to assist with the menu. Once my pager started vibrating, I went to the counter to retrieve both my girlfriend's and my orders! I, again, ordered the goat cheese quesadilla, as I did at the Campbell location. Just like the Campbell location, the goat cheese really added to the quesadilla, creating flavor bursts of goat cheese every few bites. Just spectacular. She ordered the Colorado Angus beef. Golly, was that flavorful! I liked it even better than the quesadilla. It had a little extra kick to it, just a little spicy to give it that something extra. Aqui proved to be an enjoyable dining experience in multiple locations! It's a fun place, particularly for someone like me who isn't particularly fond of Mexican food, although can get excited when interesting spins are put on it.

It's not "Mexican" it's "Mexican like" food. Nonetheless, it's tasty, they have free wifi, the Margaritas are very strong, but the food is actually quite tasty. I usually get a mango chicken salad or a thai chicken burrito (chicken burrito with a peanut sauce in it). If you're looking for a 1lb Alviso-style chicken/bean/sourcream/guac burrito, this isn't the place. But it's always packed at lunch and it seems quite a bit healthier than the traditional taqueria Mexican food. They rotate the specials of the day so pay attention to the chalk board near where you order. They seem good, but I'm a creature of habit...

Came here with some co-workers one night after work. Being somewhat new to the Bay Area/Nor Cal - I had never been here before and my workers were pretty much telling me I couldn't claim to live in SJ without having a swirl or two under my belt first. I was told they were a "1 and you're done" kinda drink and that I should pace myself. Uhhhhm...not so much. The drinks were pretty good but def not 'industrial strength' like I was told they'd be. Overall pretty good though - I'd be back to have another and try some food!

The food here is pretty good relative to the price. It's always fresh and at the right temperature. It's a little different from your typical sit down restaurant since you order and pay first and then wait for your number to be called. Check out their specials for the day before ordering off the menu. The staff here has always been friendly and courteous.

This place is good for one thing and one thing only. SWIRLS. Patron Paradise will take you to paradise. Get 3 (limit) of those and see how you feel. The food is nothing great. The only thing I would get is the Chips and avocado/salsa to snack on. Everything else is not that great.

I am disappointed to find out that the fresh corn they use is GMO corn. I did not ask about their yellow corn tortillas. But since it is not listed as organic on their food facts page, it may as well be GMO yellow corn tortillas. Another question would be, is their Canola oil also GMO Canola oil? I will wait for them to remove all GMO products from their offerings before I return as a customer.

Aqui is my favorite restaurant in San Jose! This location is the best because there are always seats available, the service is quick and the employees are extremely friendly. Their swirls are amazing and their food never fails to impress. My favorites include their hummus, thai chicken tacos, and their cowboy steak salad....everything they serve is fabulous!

  • Angela V.

I'm surprised there aren't more Aquis around! I don't think there is another restaurant similar to this that serves fresh, organic, and healthy Mexican-inspired food, so it's definitely worth a try! I ordered a chicken wrap that came with a tortilla soup and my sister ordered the salmon salad. My chicken wrap was a bit dry, but my sister's salad was delicious. We also got a plate of chips with guacamole. Oh man, I stuffed myself with the guac. It was SO GOOD. Oh, and it's right next to a Tapioca Express, yay! But I was so full after eating that I rolled straight to my car, ughhhh

One of my favorite places to eat, consistent in the food ( i love the Taquitos with the mashed pinto beans and chicken) and prices aren't over the top I am sadden by the healthy heart burrito leaving the menu and would love to see it come back. Sometimes noisy but overall a great place to go and hang with friends

    (4)
  • Karla A.

Love the swirls! Who doesn't, right?? I hate that they're packed with 900 calories but one or two is enough to get you feeling good. The food is so so and the environment at this location is a lot more relaxed than at the WG location with all those lovable douchebags. The shopping center is huge and there's lots of parking.

The margaritas here are like ninjas - they sneak up on you when you least expect it and, before you know it, you're on the ground not knowing what hit you. Sneaky bastards.

whoa. BAD...BAD IDEA...!!! i came to this place with an open mind...knowing that they promote "cal-mex" so i knew i wasn't going to have real authentic mexican food. well, first of all, the guy at the register wasn't much help...it was like talking to a wall...we mentioned that we were first timers and asked for recommendations...all he did was point at the daily specials which didn't look very appetizing in the first place. i ended up ordering the bbq chicken burrito which came with pinto beans and chips. wifey had the chicken and avocado wrap which came with mango salad. ok, the chicken and avocado wrap was decent...but you could also go to togo's to get the same thing. the salad was meh...just a bunch of greens with some diced mango...nothing special...pretty bland if you ask me. now don't even get me started with the bbq chicken burrito...ugh...the worst burrito i have ever had. only thing i appreciated about it was the freshness...other than that...it was doused with who knows how much bbq sauce...and the pinto beans looked like they were just thrown on the plate with absolutely no purpose. the chips weren't very good at all...just hard and definitely out of the bag. overall, my plate was pretty bad...i wish i had ordered wifey's instead... the salsa bar was nice and clean...hmm...other than that...not a whole lotta. i guess if you come here...you should probably order a margarita since that's what it's mostly known for...maybe have 2...and then MAYBE...the food will taste better...or maybe not. haha.

Oh my Aqui what have you done? You took your lovely adobo tofu and replaced it with some blase panko coated fish fillet looking thing. Yes I know it is tofu but the look is very unappetizing. You took out of your veg burrito also... and replaced with GREEN BEANS. Sigh...

Aquí has so many different menu items; one is sure to find something they love! I have tried many different entrees, and loved them all (still plenty more to try until I find my favorite). Aqui seems to use only natural and premium ingredients, which really makes me happy because I love using sustainably produced food (it's better for everyone!!)! The servers are great and the prices are very fair! Quick food preparation too!

Good healthy mexican food. Only downside is small portions and not a lot of seating. It seems like it would get very crowded on a Friday or Saturday night.

All natural entrees! We love the chicken enchiladas and anything with the angus beef. Also, you need a margarita when you eat here! We come here a lot.

I have been such a loyal Aqui customer that they should start making those frequent buyer stamp cards just for me. First I was totally hooked on their taquito plate, but soon after trying to ween myself off of that addiction I moved onto other entrees and each new experience has been better than the last. So far I've had their tamales, their salads, and their thai chicken taco plate. I have to say that everything has always been fresh and complete with a really beautiful presentation. Each Aqui's location is the same all around and they are consistent with service and taste every time. For a franchise they completely deliver awesome quality with their food and service which lets you know that yes, integrity can be maintained. I'm particularly loyal to the Snell (and Willow Glen) locations because somehow the best girls night out tends to happen at one of those two places, assisted by the delicious indulgence of their sangria. This isn't for the faint of heart--they give you a water glass full of sangria and boy do you pay a pretty penny for it, but you aren't short-changed when it comes to getting your buzz on. It's an excellent blend of fruit and wine and if you're really feeling like you need a brain freeze buzz then get their sangria swirl which mixes together their margarita and sangria. It'll put anything that Fat Tuesdays (Vegas, anybody?) serves to shame and I'm not sure why I've ended up comparing big gallons of rum-infused slurpees to a delightful blend of sangria and margarita but all the same, you could have this drink for dessert and be perfectly content. While I wish they just gave complimentary chips and salsa, their salsa bar is the absolute best. And why? Have you ever known another restaurant that actually allows you to take sour cream independently without charging 25 cents for a little container? Have you ever wanted to just gorge yourself on sour cream because finally, it was FREE?! Perhaps I just love me some sour cream a little too much, but if that's not your thing, they've got plenty of other sauces and salsas to choose from, like a roasted pepper salsa to a spicy honey sauce. Lastly the atmosphere in the restaurant is always warm and spacious and works for a big groups or a little romantic spot. Bathrooms always seem clean and there's always outdoor seating as well. I can't emphasize how fun Aqui's is. Now, due to writing this, I'm fiending for a taquito plate. Extra sour cream.

4.5 Stars I have been wanting to go to this place for awhile and I finally got the chance this past weekend. The ordering process is simple, similar to that of Sonoma Chicken. The menu is extensive with various tastes and uniquely infused Mexican and Californian cuisines. I had ordered the chicken cajun Colorado and my friend ordered the angus steak. Both were hearty portions and very good. I enjoyed the carefree atmosphere and everyone seemed to be having fun enjoying their meal. In addition, I cannot wait to try out their happy hour where you can get grilled salmon for 4 bucks! No way! Chips and salsa are bottomless at $1.50 and many great salsa choices at the salsa bar. Great outdoor patio and was named best outdoor dining patio by the Mercury News.

INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH MARGARITAS, anyone?! I've dined here a few times, the food is pretty decent - but does anyone really come here for anything other than a swirl? I prefer this location to the Campbell one (never been to WG location), more spacious, you can watch the TV's without actually being in the bar area... and happy hour! Last time I was in Campbell, they didn't offer a happy hour. Love!

  • Courtney E.

I'm a huge Aqui fan- never disappointed by the food or swirls. This location I love especially for their quick and friendly customer service. Definitely my go-to when we want to stay close to home.

This place has delicious food, and for "Mexican" it is quite light and healthy. I usually get something that is on special. I don't really have a favorite thing here, perhaps that is why I can't give it the 5 stars. However, 5 stars for the SWIRLS. I usually go for the Paradise one, but heard there is a new Mai-Tai version, can't wait to try it out. This place is always happening at night, and they have a pretty good size bar area, and a patio which is nice for nice warm nights.

I have been to different locations for Aquis, and definitely prefer this one over any! While isn't as big as some of the others, the atmosphere isn't as crowded as some of the others - a little off the beaten path for such a good place (even if it is off Blossom Hill!) I suggest looking at the daily specials to see if there's anything they recommend - but usually end up ordering the Potato and Cheese Enchiladas. THe Enchiladas are actually the reason I prefer this location, since the one in Campbell and Willow Glen seems to make them a bit dry for my tastes. But yum yum, I miss living down the street!!

    (4)
  • Ashley B.

I love me some Aqui and I love me some Industrial Strength Margarita even more, but the Cupertino location is still my favorite.

    (4)
  • Scott P.

The special of the night: Turkey and Chorizo Quesadilla! Get in my belly! Aqui's doesn't disappoint and I have rarely ordered something that wasn't one of the daily specials... finally, was able to have the industrial Margarita and get a taste of Sangria, both were quite good!

  • Jillina C.

Love this place! I came in for lunch one day, and like to dork that I am, accidentally spilled my Swirl (tasty margarita) into my appetizer. I took the tray back to show the people behind the counter what a klutz I am, and they gave me a new drink and appetizer, no questions asked. The food isn't authentic, but they have fabulous organic choices that you cannot normally find. The only downside I can even see is that sometimes you have to fight for a table because the place is so packed!

  • Danny D.

Always fresh and new things to try. We usually just get the tortilla roll ups, but have tried a lot of other items over the years. The brunch is also very good and filling. This place is a solid go to for fresh eats on the southside of SJ.

A mix of your traditional Taqueria food (burritos, quesadilla's, enchilada's, etc) and a twist of healthy latin dishes (not sure if this makes sense...). Located on the corner of Snell and Blossom Hill in South San Jose, you wouldn't think this Aqui's location would be very big from the outside. It actually looks like your typical small Taqeuria. The plaza usually looks pretty dead except there's always lots of cars parked in the parking lot. Once you get into Aqui's you'll know where everywhere went. It's usually pretty busy during happy hour. They have a small bar with apparently some really good margarita's (various fruit flavored margarita's, etc) - I've never tried. This Aqui's location is probably the biggest one I've ever seen. Lots of outside seating with plenty of indoor seating. Service is pretty fast too. Aqui's is self serve (similar to your typical Taqueria restaurant) but the food quality is just as good as any sitdown restaurant. They have a variety of daily specials and an assortment of fresh/healthy dishes - it has something for everyone. I've been to this Aqui's several times and it's definitely one of my favorite takeout places that's close by to where I live. From what I remember I've tried: Angus Beef Taco's (you can either order this with beef, grilled chicken or pork carnitas). The dish is suppose to be eaten like a taco but it's actually better to eat it with a knife and fork. It comes with mashed pinto beans and corn-jicama salsa. It's also served with Aqui slaw and chips or house organic greens salad. This is definitely a tasty dish that's very hearty (large portion) - I would definitely recommend. Grilled Salmon Salad on Organic Greens. So far, definitely one of my favorite dishes at Aqui's. It comes with a grilled salmon on organic greens, tomatoes, balsamic vinaigrette, cilantro pesto, feta, edamame-garbanzo salsa and whole wheat tortillas (hard). - This dish is light but filling, another definite recommendation! Aqui Sampler. Comes with avocado dip, hummus and black bean dip with chips. Sampler would be good if their tortilla chips were a lot better. Thick and "store-bought" tasting... Service is great here and always with a smile. It's great for takeout or eating in...

This is a fast food California-Mex restaurant. Seat yourself, no wait service, order at the counter and get your food when it's ready. I never know where to order your food because there's several cash registers but nothing indicating which one is open. If you stand next to the wrong one, the employees will just ignore you. Food is good for fast food but flavors are bland. They don't use much salt or spice. Very noisy when it's full, impossible to hear someone talk. The prices are also extremely high considering it's fast food and no frills.

    (4)
  • Karen J.

I don't know where to start on this one. We go to Aqui's at least once a month, and usually try something new. The freshness, presentation and taste are always very good. It's an order at the counter place, and service is consistently good. We have been going to Aqui's (starting in Willow Glen) since 94. We have taken various out of town guests there, and not a one hasn't been very happy with our choice. I personally like the roll ups, the specials and the tofu options. If I had a 4 1/2 star to give I would.

I came here Sat. 8/11 but only experienced the bar service. It was after 6:00 PM and packed! Apparently the place to be for food and drinks in South SJ. I enjoyed my favorite swirl: Sunrise Swirl. The bartender was quick and friendly. I liked that they allowed my friend to order an appetizer from the bar so she didn't have to wait in a long line. She ordered the Aqui Sampler (Avocado Dip, Hummus and Black Bean Dip with chips), which was tasty.

    (4)
  • Peter C.

Food taste bland. If my friends bring me here again, I'll just order chip and salsa and get some the salsa from the salsa bar. Great services but food is blah.

The California Crab salad appears in my dreams sometimes. It's that good. So 4 stars for this dish alone. Don't ask me about the rest of the menu, I could never come here and order anything else!

i went to aqui cal-mex on an extremely hot day with a friend. we were looking for happy hours in the area and decided to come to aqui, mainly because of my yearning to try their Swirls.. i heard these bad boys were killer, so i had to see what the fuss was about... ...the fuss is about that the Swirls will eff you up!!! lol.. i had one and i was feeling pretty dizzy/head changed.. and after another 1/2 i was goooood. during happy hour (3-6:30, i think?? don't quote me on it), i believe they're only about $.50 cheaper, but i guess it's better than nothing. we wanted something to munch on with our Swirls so we got the hummus and chips. make sure you order the hummus with hot sauced rimmed around the sides, it really adds that necessary flavorful kick. i haven't tried their actual food, but the Swirls and appetizers makes for a fun chill time with friends that would definitely bring me back.

This place is ALWAYS busy. Came last night with a friend for a couple of pre-dinner drinks. We went to the bar and were helped after a few minutes of waiting in line. The bartender took our drink orders and made them quickly, but proceeded to charge us incorrectly on our credit cards. She just switched the drinks, but they were different in price by a few dollars so we were kind of annoyed by that. Stayed for our one drink and headed out for dinner.

  • James M.

Great food for what they charge. No complaints, I've been here at least 15 times, and I plan on going back many more times. It's great for a professional lunch. I highly highly recommend this place if you want to bring some business clients. I've never had problems with waiting in line more than 5 minutes. The service is always been very good. It's very IN and OUT, perfect for business professionals on the move. Near highway 85, ok signage. Oh, and did I forget, there is FREE wireless from a Tapioca Express two doors down. This place has never done me wrong. There is no wait staff, so you will get a little buzzer that will notify you when your food is ready. FYI. Did I mention they have a full bar?

My husband and I just went here for the first time last weekend with some friends. Good stuff! I had the potato and cheese enchilada plate and he had a veggie burrito. Both were pretty darn good, made even better by their great selection of sauces (the honey habanero and the serrano ones were the bomb). Looking forward to going back and trying out some other things on the menu as well as the drinks.

This place is one word AMAZING! Never have we EVER been disappointed. Even without servers, the service is great, food is like nowhere else, and to top it off it is good quality, organic and natural!!!! Such a great alternative to the "low quality" chain restaurants... We have brought so many people here and they are BEYOND impressed...Even my picky eating family went crazy over this place :)

The menu is well done with super fresh California Mexican food, lots of choices, and healthy ingredients. The ambiance is fun and family friendly (with the strange exception that there is no baby changing station in the bathroom!) Aqui supports local schools by holding fund raising nights and donates a portion of the bill to your local school. (Love that!) The staff is upbeat and welcoming. Walk away happy every time.

  • Kim N.

Pretty decent California/Mexican fare. The restaraunt is clean, modern and a bit upscale as far as Mexican goes. I blame my adoration for the hole in the wall taquerias I've grown into over the number of years to the lack of excitement for this place. Still popular nonetheless and it has it's niche amongst the rest of the plethora of Mexican in the area.

I've been going to Aqui's off of Snell for years and while I've tried both the Campbell and Willow Glen locations, it is still my favorite for service and ambiance - the other two are a bit too busy for my taste. I love their daily specials, agua fresca and fantastic desserts!

Love this place - the food is wonderful, the prices don't empty the wallet, and the margaritas are the best in town. Great, funky atmosphere that's good for families, and it's a fun place to watch the game. Cal-Mex fusion food that's funky, not as heavy as Mexican food but combines a lot of the spices and flavors of Mexican food with a health-conscious focus towards eating. Black beans or whole pintos are used (not refried), lots of fish is on the menu and I think (?) they've put a focus on using free range chicken and beef. Good stuff.

  • Sky Y.

This place isn't terrible, but it's not good either. The food looks good and is presented nicely, but it doesn't have much taste at all. The portions are actually pretty good in size, but this is not the place to go to if you want flavor in your food.

    (2)
  • Havana H.

Very bland, flavor-less Mexican food. Guacamole had no flavor whatsoever, basically a bowl of smashed avocados with no seasoning. Their food looked great, but tasted flavorless. I'm not ever one to salt my food at the table, but pretty much everything needed more salt. They even screwed up Quesadilla which is a difficult dish to mess up. I'd rather eat at Baja Fresh or even Taco Bell than go back to this place!

industrial strength margaritas are boooomb. they were super good and i enjoyed their chicken flautas. hung out with my gal pals for happy hour and would definitely come back. the environment is kind of fast food-like but it's definitely worth a try if you wanna a couple of tasty margaritas, free chips and salsa, and chicken flautas. price was worthwhile.

If you want great California style Mexican food, come to Aqui! It is healthy, fresh and delicious! I went there with a friend for dinner last night and i ordered the fork and knife salmon burrito, she ordered the romano puff something or other with tofu. It used to be on the menu and my friend really loves it so they still make it for her. That wins my heart! They have a little salsa bar like most of the Mexican restaurants but this one has sour cream or crema, jalapenos, chipotle sauce, and three other salsa choices to choose from. They really expedite their orders at Aqui - with the buzzers and you have to pickup your own food when the buzzer goes off and bring it back to your table. This makes the pricing pretty reasonable too! I also hear they have slamming margaritas too, woo-hoo! They get four stars from me. I think a 5th star might be earned by adding wait staff to bring the food out.

Very satisfying array of cal-mex cuisine. Love the aqua fresca and any of their pork specials. Have not found any thing on the menu I didn't like... IMHO, Great value.

I was very happy with my first dinner experience here. You defiantly get what you pay for. Good food, fast service, and great prices. It wasn't amazing and I wish the plates were hotter but overall I think we'll be back when we fell like healthy Mexican food that won't break the bank. Also there is a heated enclosed patio, so I can see myself going there in the summer time for lunch and dinner. I got the tamales and pork, it was good but not great. I'll try a burrito of enchilada next time.

I was having a really bad night, so my boyfriend decided to take me out here so that we could drink. I had been wanting to try this place out since we ate at a Japanese restaurant near it. It was quite different than most Mexican places. We did have to order our food like a fast food restaurant, which I'm not a fan of, but the employee who took our order was quite pleasant even though we arrived around 9pm. The food was delicious despite the unusual descriptions given in the menu. Apparently Cal-Mex is quite different than Mexican. I would love to go back, but it's one of those restaurants that you have to be in the mood for.

I'm a little puzzled by all the 4 and 5 star reviews. My friends and I tried this place because we weren't familiar with the area and felt like margaritas. I ordered the salmon taco and a sangria. The sangria was tasty as it should be. The salmon taco smelled fishy...yuck!! The sauce and slaw in the taco were bland and underwhelming. The beans were a little underdone for my taste. My friends were equally unimpressed with their choices. It was just ok not great not disgusting. After reading the other reviews maybe we ordered the wrong things? I didn't feel justified paying 12+ dollars for a meal I have to retrieve from the counter.

A popular group lunch spot, I always end up here hoping for something good. The food looks good, the food sounds good. But it just never tastes quite right. It never lives up to my expectations. It really should be better. It isn't bad, but they just go a little too far with the fusion flavors. But it isn't a bad spot for after-work margaritas.

My friends and I all agree that this place wouldn't be around if it weren't for their industrial strength Margaritas. The food is bland with odd creations that don't always mesh. Sometimes we think the cooks who created some of these meals haven't tasted their own creations. The guacemole is good. Chips taste like the same kind you get from the $3 Costco brand bag. One Margarita and you're on the floor.

They make a killer swirl margarita (sangria with frozen margarita) and offer a variety of tequilas. The food is ok and not as wide a variety as I would like.

Healthy food! I'm in love with the BBQ chicken quesadilla. It's got pumpkin seeds in there! My coworkers go often here for our happy hour events and the food and drink specials are good! Be sure to check out their daily specials. Some of the highlights include crab chowder and their chicken nachos. Very tasty indeed. I can't say I'm a fan of either their chips or salsa bar (Chevy's still has that hands down over this place) but If you want good healthy food, this is your place.

Another place that's just around the corner from my house and it's a great place to have as a backup plan. The daily specials are where it's at. They really come up with some creative stuff, typically on the healthier side of the border. The tequila bar is well stocked and the margaritas are pretty potent! The staff is just over the top friendly. The stand out of Aqui's for me is the courteous service, and friendly atmosphere. So many menu items are $10 or less, so it's a nice place to have decent food without paying for all the stuff you don't want to care about like wait staff, Mall rent, etc.

went here after we went to the one in campbell. campbell's had not where to sit and no way it forming a line so it was really a free for alll. not my type of place. so we cruised on down here. plenty of seating and large back patio with heaters! nice! we got the swirl which helped us to get our swerve on! the guac....not so much as guacamole as just some mushed up avocado. not the business. the salsa was pretty good tho. i liked the ambiance. it didnt feel too busy but busy enuff to hold its own. i liked the now hiring sign on front with interview times and wages. kinda different.

I went here with my boss for lunch yesterday & had a Thai Chicken wrap. It was pretty good. The restaurant is very clean. I will try their salads next time since my boss had a salmon salad that looked really good! :) The wait is not long either.

So my ex roommate is a bartender here and he used to come home with food from work all the time. Finally one night when I was smashed I helped myself to his steak salad while he was in the other room. Omg. I couldntt begin to wonder how something so simple can be so good. It was at that moment i knew I'd be a lifetime costumer. Aqui truly uses the freshest ingredients, and although it gets packed there at times , I've never had a long wait for my grub there. I would definitely recommend the Strawberry lemonade (not as innocent as it sounds) as an alternative to the amazing swirls. It's made with organic vodka, and real strawberries with there own lemonade. It's a creeper, so be advised. The chicken floutas are excellent, as is the coleslaw and BBQ refried beans that come on the side. Also, make your way to the salsa bar and make the Marc mallberg especial! It's one part roasted tomato salsa, one part mango habanero sauce, and top it off with a lil crema... Thank me later.

Went here for the first time last night. Looked like a more upscale place from the outside and so I was a little surprised when we walked inside and found it so be so casual. The food selection was interesting and they had a decent number of choices. I went with the chicken taquitos dinner. The taquitos were good, but the green rice was a little bland for me. I liked the layout of the food since it was better than one would expect for such a low key restaurant. I would recommend this place for a quick bite out if you like tex mex.

There is not a restaurant I miss more than Aqui since moving to Portland a year ago. I have been back to SJ three times to visit, and each time I have made it to Aqui on the first night. There is nothing on the menu that isn't awesome...I most often order one of the three daily specials because I can't decide what I want. And do I even need to say anything about the margaritas??? THE best!!! There is a reason they make you eat a full meal with your 2nd and cut you off after the 3rd! Industrial strength indeed. How I miss Aqui's happy hour with my BFF...tear.

  • Bobi R.

Consistently good food. If you feel adventurous and want to order one of the specials, or the old familiar burrito everything is always fresh and wonderful. They get you in quickly, which makes it a favorite place of ours if we are headed somewhere, but the food never feels "fast". The fresh ingredients and the variety make it a place you can go to often and not be bored or disappointed.

Aqui is not really Mexican food, so don't go with that expectation. Otherwise, I like it. The food is fresh and has good flavor. There is a large variety, which some unique selections (e.g. wasabi chicken burrito). The prices are okay, $7-$8 for lunch, and $10-$20 for dinner. Overall, it's a nice, casual restaurant with lots of seating.

I like Aqui's a lot! I don't go here for real Mexican food, but rather, I come here for the Cal-Mex fake mexican food that's tasty. Portion is always good, and I usually get the Cuban pork enchilada.

I Love Aqui! I have been going to Aqui since they opened and can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience. The employees are always personable and great at recommending new dishes. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the food here! The food is delicious, fresh and cheap! My favorites are polenta with chips, crab roll-ups, and the flourless chocolate cake!!!!

I like this restaurant for few reasons: 1. Affordable. 2. A wide variety of choices on the menu. This isn't a typical mexican restaurant and some may be dissapointed if they are looking for "real" or "authentic" Mexican food. It's more of a combination of different cousines such as Mexican, California, Texas etc... 3. If you are looking for a meal that tastes good, but isn't high in calories, they have some good choices. I like the Salmon salad. 4. Chips and salsa are something I always get here because of the variety of salsa you can get at a self serve bar. 5. Fast service. They don't have waitresses here. You order it yourself at the counter and they give you a buzzer to let you know when it's ready. I don't think I have ever had to wait longer than 10 minutes for the food to be ready. Usually it is like 5 minutes. 6. The house Margaritas are pretty powerfull. I like the blended ones. Be careful though, they can sneak up on you. 7. Nice atmosphere. Some large paintings that look like a cross between Van Gogh and Doonsbury. Plenty of TVs in the bar area to watch sports. 8. Outdoor seating area is cool. 9. Friendly service. Overall, a good choice IMO.

The food here isn't great, but service is friendly and quick, and on a limited work lunch break, I can get in and out in under an hour. I find the food to be underspiced and bland. It's foofy Cali-Mex food, nothing authentic or spicy about it. It does have a lovely patio for eating outside, that's nice.

Y-U-M!!!! I LOVE AQUI! Cal-Mex food is easy to do but few do it right. My health conscious friends loves this place, as does my friend who makes it a point to only eat delicious food with complete disregard for calories. The CA wrap is just the right portion size and the bbq burrito with green rice is a great twist to a standard burrito. The sangria is a nice "punch in the face" (in a good way) and the margaritas are equally as strong. I've been to the Cupertino and San Jose locations and both have comparable good food and nice facilities.

I heard of this place through a friends sister & it definitely doesn't dissapoint. However, I can only give it a 4/5 due to its customer service. I came here on a Friday night w/ some friends for some good food & drinks & the place was packed! I asked a waitress to help me find a table inside for 12 people and she nodded her head & never came back. Then while we were sitting outside, a worker came up to us and asked if we needed help finding a table of 12 people inside and I said yes. He said he would help us look and once again never came back. I am pretty sure he only asked us that because he was talking to a woman next to our table who was considering stealing the chairs at our tables since my friends weren't there to keep them occupied. He caught me starring over & overhearing their conversation so he pretended to ask us if we needed "help" finding a table. I thought that was insanely rude. Then as I went to order my second round of drinks, the cashier that took our order was extremely moody and rude to us. She kept saying "we're limited to three magaritas per person just to let you know" over and over. I kept insisting her that I understood and this was only my second one. She rolled her eyes & said "okay, sure let me check with him later." I told her to go ahead and ask him now because I'm not lying and perfectly sober. She just threw me my receipt and said next. Okay extremely RUDE, it wasn't like I was walking in a crooked line or slurring my words, I was perfectly normal. Just because my friend & I were laughing in line waiting to order our drinks, she automatically think we exceeded our 3 magaritas. That was the only thing that made my night there a little bit unenjoyable. If their food and swirls weren't so good, I probably wouldn't come back again. Maybe their workers aren't so inconsiderate & rude at their other locations. & Also, their advertisment on how strong their drinks are is a bit overexaggerated. Although it definitely give you a good buzz it wasn't as strong as they kept saying it was. Overall, food = delicious. Drinks = delicious. Prices = reasonable/affordable. Environment = okay, there were a lot of rude drunk customers & like I said, workers = poor attitude.

We are regulars, so here are my brief two cents: If you visit and notice its busy, have someone find a table while the other orders. They'll take your order but wont give you your food so people arent standing around with plates and drinks in their hand type of thing if you dont already have a place to park it. There are daily and chef special plates on display at the counter. Recommend these first, yes they're big, yes you can take leftovers home. Hummus with diablo sauce and chips is tasty if you just want something to nibble on with your drink(s). Try the swirls. Definitely. What to expect in terms of food: I'd say fresh clean Californian style with a Mexican influence. The chef specials are about $11 which are usually the most expensive, so considering its fresh local fare, with flavor AND texture the value cant be beat.

WTF! Salsa in my hummus...with chips? Sold! Came here on a recommendation of a friend and I pretty much immediately knew I'd be back soon. The menu is great. Very creative and fun twists on traditional dishes. And veg friendly too! Pricing is quite reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. I think it's very reasonable. The atmosphere is chill. Everytime I have been it's been quite busy, nonetheless it didn't feel "crowded" or "cramped". It's cafeteria style which takes it down 1 notch for me, but I can look past that. The patio area is cool, good lighting and heaters for the evenings. The margarita bar side is decent too, although I'm wary of mass made margaritas. It's a great family friendly spot too, plenty of kids and large families running around.

Came here last night for a going away party for a coworker of mine. I've known a lot of people over the years who love this place, but this was the first time I'd actually gone. Checking the menu out online, I decided right off the bat not to get anything "Mexican." I figured that any quote-unquote Mexican dish here would be kinda white-washed. I'd compare it to my grandma's cooking, then wouldn't really enjoy the food. So here's what I got! For an entree, I had the blackened wild mahi-mahi, which came with mashed sweet potatoes, ranch coleslaw, mango-cucumber relish, and a lemon butter sauce. I'm actually not a fan of coleslaw or mango, but I actually really liked this! The portion was great, too (just the right amount, without weighing you down). Definitely got me wanting to check out their other specials. For dessert, my coworkers and I shared a flourless chocolate cake with a coffee whipped cream. Pretty yummy, and great to split up among the four of us who wanted it. Service was pretty nice. I wasn't rung up for a drink, but when I asked about it they gave me one anyway. Also, I ordered the dessert right as the closed, so they were nice to let me do that. All in all, I wouldn't go to this place for authentic Mexican food, but their Mexican-inspired stuff could be pretty yummy for the price.

Mmm I quite like this place. Clean, simple spacious place with yummy, fresh, fair-priced food. They have tasty pre-mixed margaritas and a nice, protected outside seating area. Last time I was there I got a lentil soup that was a bit too salty for my personal taste, and when I explained it to them, they offered me another soup or a refund. They gave me a sample of the other soup which I stupidly gulped down and scalded my throat, I was over it so they happily just gave me a cash refund. I guess the bottom line of THAT is they have good customer service as well :) I think my favorite aspect of the place is it has a relatively healthy menu, sometimes it sucks going out to eat and only seeing heavy, greasy, "god-knows-how-many-grams-of-trans-fats" foods. There's a wide array of options, but no matter what you get it will be fresh! Oh, also a yummy salsa/dressing bar :)

This is a small chain. I've been to the one in Willow Glen, downtown Campbell, and this one on Blossom Hill which is right by my home so I'll review that one. This is Cal-Mex with fresh organic food. They serve brunch on the weekends. They all have bars inside. They have a special board which lists their daily specials, agua fresca flavors, soup flavors and desserts. They will give you a sample of any agua fresca flavor that you want to try. If you buy a glass, it has unlimited refills. Also any appetizer with chips, the chips are bottomless too. Almost every single dessert I've ever had there is good, especially whatever flavor of cheesecake they have at the moment. Pumpkin cheesecake is the best when fall comes around. I prefer their pumpkin cheesecake to Cheesecake factory. The flourless chocolate cake is good if you are in a chocolate mood. The desserts are all $5 but can be easily shared between 2 or more people. I usually order one of the daily specials. They have them plated and on display so you may see them before you order. Or sometimes I will get the cuban pork enchiladas. Another good thing is you can order smaller dishes if you don't feel like eating much. Nothing is over $10. They have a salsa bar. Everything is self serve and you get a buzzer so you know when to get your food. Good salads if your dish comes with salad or you order a salad. I have also been there for brunch on a number of occasions. Their chicken sausage patties are homemade and very good. I have substituted meats on their egg dishes and they don't seem to mind. No real bacon if you are craving that. Their blue corn pancakes are pretty good too with real maple syrup. I have also been here for their happy hour from 4-6. You can order small dishes for cheap, and I think there were alcohol specials too. Their margaritas are strong and make me incredibly sleepy. The atmosphere is very casual with many families with children there. The employees there are always very nice. A couple of times I have received a complimentary drink. There is also a patio to eat outside on. The interior is modern southwest. This is my go to place when I can't think of any place I'd like to eat out at since the daily specials make it seems different all the time and the food is light and clean.

I absolutely adore Aqui; I go there about once a week when I'm living in San Jose. First of, the main reason for hitting up Aqui lies in their sure-shot party starter; the Industrial Strength Margarita. Holy cow. Whether you are trying to forget about a rough day of work or pre-gaming for a night out, the margarita must happen. People get as excited for these Margaritas as they used to get for Slurpees in the 3rd grade. DO NOT MISS OUT ON THIS ONE, FOLKS. Next, the actual eating part. Aqui does a great job about offering a large variety of pretty healthy food options at a very decent price. A bowl of guacamole is a must when going there with friends, which should be pretty much ALWAYS, and then my personal favorite is the salmon/black bean/ spinach burrito smothered in salsa verde- the Knife and Fork burrito. And now, ambiance. Although it can reach what feels like sub-zero temperatures in their indoor dining area, either you prepare with a sweater, move to the outdoor patio covered in Bogenvelias and string lighting, or sack up and order another margarita. I would recommend a combination of the last two options if you aren't trying to watch a game and have a designated driver of some sort. Honestly. Aqui is very casual, very affordable, and has very good food. Make it happen.

Love love LOVE Aqui! They have an amazing menu to start with, but then they have daily fresh specials that they display right at the ordering counter. Typically have the bbq beef large plate (the best) but last time I tried a rissoto wrap with portobello mushrooms and it was sooooo good! Tortilla soup came with it and it didn't eve need chicken in it, it was delicious! Tip of my hat to the chefs @ Aqui. Their plate presentations make your dish that more appetizing. Please take to heart my next statement : If you have not been to Aqui before, stop what you are doing and go there right now! Don't give me that grin. . . I mean it! Go! Gooooooo! Feel better? That meal was good wasn't it! You are welcome ;)

Woohoo for the Sangria Swirls! I'm rating Aqui's for that alone! Possibly the best mixed drink ever! Aqui's has a fun atmosphere and the food is pretty good even though I think some of the dishes can be bland at times. Luckily there is a condiment bar where you can add some sauces and salsa to liven up the flavor. My favorite dish is the Chicken Flautas. Since I am Mexican-American I can be really picky with refried beans, but Aqui's beans are damn close to the real thing! My favorite spot for reasonable priced food and to have a good time with the husband and friends!

I really don't get what the hype is. The food is just okay. The drinks are okay, too. I mean really, it's just "A-OK". The actual offerings are mostly strange mixtures of components which would really be more of a fusion type place with a healthy spin. It's just not that appealing to me and even less so after trying to stand up to the incredible reviews. Meh

AMAZING food!!! This is the best place every and I could eat this everyday! The salmon salad is FANTASTIC as well as the chicken fajitas or tortilla soup and especially the guacamole and salsa is DELICIOUS! The portions are perfect and filling, healthy and fresh! This place has a great atmosphere and an even better staff. Everyone is super nice and helpful. The place is clean, there is a bar on the other side of the resturante and food is made super quick. LOVE this place!!!

2 stars is exacally how I feel about this place. 'Meh. I've experienced better.' There salsa and chips are nice. The food is reasonably priced. I ordered their enchiladas that had the red sauce on it and I really didn't like it at all. Their rice that came with it didn't really have any taste to it at all. For the price I guess its okay but if I really wanted Hispanic food I would def go somewhere else. Good thing I ate chips and salsa which filled me up because I only had 2 bites out of the enchiladas and I was done.

this review is mostly focused on their famous "Swirls" their "industrial strength margaritas" swirled into flavored juices/other alcoholic mixture of choice, get you DRUNK. quite possibly after just one of them. haha the food is decent too. i guess it could be "healthy" mexican food, and not the "dirty delicious food truck" kind, as my friend called it. lots of organic ingredients and such. but it still all tasted very good too me. mexican food is mexican food. mmm AND we were free to choose from a variety of different salsas and sauces and all you can eat sour cream. free. i like.

This was the only thing that got my friend and I out of her apartment and off our lazy asses the day after Christmas. But it was worth it! Just a short drive away from where she lived was this supoer casual yet... fully alcoholic restaurant. The menu, as I've been told, is totally fresh and natuarl, which is awesome. There are also a lot of choices for people who like different kinds of Cal-Mex foods. This is an order-at-the-counter kind of restaurant, and they give you a buzzer for when your food is ready at the counter. The daily specials are literally on display for you to look at by the register, and the employee taking the orders is happy to explain them to you. We shared the taster platter with black bean dip covered in sour cream, fresh avocado for dipping/spreading, and hummus that you can have them put hot sauce on. SO GOOD. I also made sure we ordered the Goat Cheese Quesadilly, and it was so good. The warmed goat cheese just squished out the sides at every slice. The Sangria Margarita is frozen or on-the-rocks, but before a serious brain freeze. Much like my mimosa experience at Bill's reviewed earlier, I wish I could have had 3 or 4 of these, but... no dice :) This is also a parking lot situation. There is an outdoor patio with heat lamps that would be great if you had a small group together for margs, but it was closed on the Sunday night we were there.

I mostly come here for the swirls, but the one time i did have an actual meal here, it was DELICIOUS. its been a while but i believe it was a salmon dish with sweet potatoes...definitely well enjoyed. so with amazingly delicious alcohol and good food to match, its hard to go wrong. the reason for the -1 star is that its pretty difficult to find something healthy here, and it surely doesnt help that they dont have a nutritional menu available. and from what i hear, those swirls are like 900 calories. thats nearly a dieters calorie count for an entire day (...but they're soooo good!!).

My bf and I love coming here for the swirls. $6.95 - their signature industrial strength margaritas mixed with sangria. So yum. and these babies will kick your ass. Two and you have an awesome buzz for the rest of the evening! Great place to gather with a small group of friends and shoot the shit. This is a smaller location for Aqui, so come early and grab a table by the bar! Chips & Salsa -$2.00 goes nicely with your drink of choice Grilled Salmon Salad on Organic Greens Grilled salmon with organic greens, tomatoes, balsamic vinaigrette, cilantro pesto, feta, edamame-garbanzo salsa and whole wheat tortillas. 8.89 So yummy. The salmon is a nice size and is always fresh, moist and just delicious. The balsamic vinaigrette is never too overpowering. Really great salad. Southwest Chicken Taquitos Grilled natural chicken breast and seasoned pinto beans rolled in red corn tortillas. Served with chunky avocado, sour cream, green rice and black beans. 8.79 - the taquitos are stuffed and always crispy crunchy! really great snack to share! Cuban Pork Enchiladas Rolled with natural pork, plantains and cheese. Served with black beans, jasmine rice, achiote sauce and sour cream. 9.19 - my bf got these and said they were delicious. Grilled Salmon Tacos - Grilled salmon, Aqui slaw and salsa fresca. Served with black beans and fruit. 5.49 (1 taco) filling & generous in portion. All in all, we love coming here with our friends and getting our Swirl on!!

This place is right by our house and we are definitely regulars. The food is always very good. The atmosphere is super casual. No waiters/ waitresses. You just order at the register, get your pager and pick up your food at the window when it's ready. Very family friendly too (which is nice, but honestly a little annoying sometimes for us 'no kids' folk). 5 stars because we have been there so many times and have never been disappointed with the food or service (minus one recent experience with a particular bartender). One mishap is not enough to take away a star, especially because it was a minor situation. Stephanie is a great bartender! Very sweet and knows how to make a great drink! BEST DRINK EVER: Sangria Margarita Who would have thought: Sangria + Margarita would = Perfection? Well someone did think it, and created what is now my favorite drink! Thank you to that 'Someone' =)

Ate at Aqui tonight and had to comment on the chef's special Classic New York Pepper Steak with a conac demi glaze , fried green beans, cheesy red potatoes...... It was so good I was really impressed with the fried green beans they were chrunchy on the outside and crisp on the inside ... I would definately order those as a appetizer if it was available. Hopefully they will have this special again.... I have to say that they have a special dessert on occasion Chocolate Banana Chimichanga it makes your mouth so happy.... Hope they bring that back too. If you go there you have to try their Flourless Chocolate Cake it is really good and rich my husband and I usually share it. They are known for their industrial strength margarita's too.

i have never been to one and we had to meet another family so they recommended to come here. i'll try anything/any place once. Mind you, i like Chevy's. you walk in and you have to find your own seat...OK, not a big deal but we had 9 ppl and had to borrow chairs here and there as it was not full but each table of ppl were sitting far apart so it was a minute or two before we can get a table for nine together. then we had to go order your food. hmmm, felt like Taco Bell'sh. then we had to wait to hear our number called for the meal. i got the Thai Taco, my daughter got the Chicken Teriyaki bowl and bf got the Blackened catfish. my taco needed more peanut sauce. my daughter finished her bowl really quick and said it was SOOO good. my bf's catfish - perfect blend of sauce and fish. the margarita was strong though. so be careful when you order it :) on the border on this place of a 3 or 4...so i'll give it a 3 as it was not that great and not sure if i'll be back for food. i may though, meet up friends for drinks .

I used to live in San Jose and being away from this place, i miss this food so much! their swirls are to die for. I am going back soon and i cannot wait to eat there again. first meal will definitely be at Aqui's! They need one of these out where i live asap!

This is as good as it gets in South San Jose. Healthy CAL-MEX food and the service is friendly, very good!!! Love the avocado salsa!

It's against my principle to pay for overpriced Mexican food, but on the other hand this place does make sure "contemporary" and upscale Cal/Mex food does not underwhelm or disappoint. Both the pork Norteno and the Cuban pork enchilada were velvety, flavorful, and sublime, yet at the same time is it really different from what you can get at a taqueria for 2/3 the price... I guess the 1/3 goes to the cleanliness and the eager-to-please atmosphere. Free chips and salsa bar would definitely push this to a 4 star Yelp recipient.

You know how when you're a kid you are completely disgusted by some foods and all of a sudden you grow up and the same foods become magically delicous? That's exactly how I feel about Aqui. I started going to Aqui around age 14 because this was the easiest place for 5 persian families to congregate and feed their children while the parents (secretly) got trashed at the bar. In the beginning, I would get annoyed by their food, but it's only because I was hella dumb and didn't understand what anything was on the menu. Jump to 23 years old and Aqui is definetly one of my favorite restaurants of all time. Their vegetable polenta bowl is a combination of the most divine foods put all together, along with their southwest ceasar salad with added polenta loaf. Nothing is more exciting than a salsa + salad dressing bar, and they have DIET DR PEPPER!! The real prize of this place is their fantabulous CILANTRO PESTO...MAKE SURE YOU ASK FOR SOME!! It goes great with anything on thier menu. They always have new specials each week, and I have found their dessert of the week to be nothing less than absolutely satisfying. Their pumpkin cheesecake during the holidays is a must try. My next venture will include a tasting of their famous avocado margarita...and I can't wait for this place to open in Cupertino!

I'd give 4 stars for the swirls alone. Only thing I come here for. It's like the fat tuesday's of San Jose haha. That's what I call it. I don't like the food here, I just stick to the avocado salsa chips. The tamales and salmon entrees were decent. The service is always on point, its basically a order and serve yourself place, They don't have the volume on for the games and the tv's are really small. I would recommend this place for a pre-drink before a big night type of place, other than that go find something else to munch on brothers and sisters.

This place is clearly for couples with children as it's a busy noisy cafeteria style place. Neither my wife nor I knew this before we came here. We stopped by on a whim after our golf outing last Saturday and as soon as we walked in, I knew this wasn't going to be our type of place. However, being as objective as I can, the food we had was good and it came out quickly, even with all the people and kids that were packed in this place. The drinks were awful as it was suggested to my wife to try to the Sangria Swirl they have, which from my understanding is their Sangria mixed with Pina Colada mix. It didn't sit well with either one of us either. I wouldn't come back here, but I think it'd be a great place for a family diner out night as kids can scream and no one would hear or mind. The bar is apart from the food area as well so you have food on one side, and drinks on the other. They also have a patio area as well.

Aqui, I'm just not that into you. Which is why I never come here. And, one of my most favorite sushi restaurants is in the same shopping center. There's another good reason. But, tonight I attended a reunion dinner and so finally had the opportunity to try this place again. This time it was better than I expected; just not my thing. I tend to not really care for fusion cuisines which never seem to be the best of both worlds to me. I will say this for Aqui though, their food offerings are plentiful, varied, and nice and colorful when they come out. I saw a good variety of platters in our group with many people getting the crab cake or salmon offerings. I stuck with "Mexican" if you can call it that and ordered the pork carnitas tacos and one of their industrial strength margaritas on the rocks with salt. The price was certainly cheap enough, and the drink was good! The carnitas tacos were impossible to eat as a taco since they stacked both my white corn tortillas together and piled the meat and fresh corn on top like a tostada. It was tasty but certainly not to die for. A trip to their salsa bar made the tortilla chip tasting fun. The chips are a little too thick but the fresh salsas were actually pretty good. What does rock big time at this particular Aqui is the outdoor patio. Our little group got there early and reserved an area. The night was perfect (they have heaters just in case it's not) and we had a lovely, uninterrupted time visiting due to the fact that service here is cafeteria style. As people got hungry, they went and placed and picked up orders and it was actually enjoyable not having wait staff hovering over constantly. The bar area was packed! I'm guessing it's not just their margaritas that are good. I'd come back here for a happy hour any day and be more than happy to chip munch and margarita drink. Sorta' Mexican food; not really my fave. Getting together with old friends I haven't seen in years; priceless! Aqui was the perfect location for that. Written in my travelogue: Healthy, cheap eats in a great atmosphere! it's not real Mexican food, so come for Happy Hour instead.

INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH MARGARITAS! I've been here a few times for their margaritas and I must say they are strooooooooonggg. I've tried all of their swirls and I have to say the sunrise swirl is my favorite; industrial strength margarita with sangria. One margarita gives me a slight head change, two definitely does the job. Most of the bartenders here are really nice, but there was one in particular who was super stingy on giving me extra oranges! I haven't had the chance to order food from here except for the chips and salsa, which are really good & also unlimited!

Love the Swirls (frozen margarita + sangria). They are creeper stiff drinks. I gotta admit, not a big fan of their "foo-foo" Mexican food. Last I checked, pumpkin seeds didn't belong in a burrito. It's basically the Mexican food equivilant to the "chick flick." Do get a couple of Swirls though, they will rock your world!!

I frequent here because it's right down the street from my house and their menu actually offer a variety, which includes their daily specials. Their daily specials are hit and miss in terms of offering dishes that actually work - but I think that's part of the enjoyment in coming here. Having their daily specials displayed allows you to actually see the creations and then decide if it looks appealing or not. Plus, they use only top quality ingredients. Vegetables are locally grown (although not organic as some people think). Grassfed beef and "natural" chicken (although FDA/USDA standards are pretty lenient on what "natural" means - I assume they are at least hormone-free). For their fish, they always indicate whether they are wild or sustainably farmed. Heads up though - I would give their takout only three stars because for some reason the food is significantly lower quality, poorly put together, smaller in portion and just not as appealing as when you dine in.

Great, great place for a casual, relaxed, tasty meal. The dishes are fresh, unique, interesting, and well-priced. Check the chalkboard for the day's special and chef's special - always winners! And above all: order a Sangria Swirl. You'll thank me later!

This place is like a breath of fresh air. Good food, great atmosphere, great branding. I love Mexican food. Authentic Mexican food, that is. But... I tend to get tired of it after a while, and so the Cal-Mex combo at Aqui really hit the spot. This is a stand-in-line-and-order, then choose your seat and wait until your pager starts buzzing, alerting you to pick up your food. Much like Sonoma Chicken Coop. Aqui offers a tasty blend of healthy alternatives to Mexican food without losing the flavor. I had the Cowboy Angus Salad and my husband had the Salmon Crabcake Stack. We were both delighted by the lovely, well prepared and presented dishes. The texture of the angus beef in my salad was akin to pulled pork--very moist and tender. The dressing made me want to lick my plate when I was done--sort of a creamy chipotle flavor. At the bottom was a whole wheat tortilla. My husband gave me a bite of his crabcake which was stuffed with corn and black beans (I think) in addition to the scrumptous crab meat. I didn't get a chance to try anything else because he inhaled it! We also got chips and salsa. The salsa/pico was to-die-for. Seriously! They have a salsa bar for you to refill with as much of it as you want, and there are a variety of salsas to choose from. I was in love with the chipotle salsa. We also got dessert--Flourless Chocolate Cake and Coconut Bread Pudding (something like that). Both were an excellent sweet end to our robust and flavorful dinner. I highly recommend this place. We felt very comfortable in the nicely appointed, and heated, outdoor seating. The place was wall-to-wall packed on a Friday night, so we opted for outside where there was some available seating. The prices were reasonable for all the food we had. I think we paid $30 or so for everything! We will be returning again, and again, and again. YUMMMM!!

Please be aware that my 2 star rating, is based on my experience with their happy hour items. Well, before going to Aqui, I always favored going to El Torrito or Chevy's for their happy hour. One day I passed by and noticed Aqui also has a happy hour. It's clearly stated outside the entrance. With their happy hour items and hours for everybody to see. I was impressed by their happy hour items, which--at the time--seemed more appetizing then that of El Torrito or Chevy's. It helped that each item had a very a very detailed and persuasive description under them. Other than that they also had many other items that differed from El Torrito's and Chevy's menus. What I also noticed that the prices were a bit more, for both the food items and alcoholic beverages. I said what the heck, maybe the more expensive pricetag means better food. Unfortunately it was not. I went on a weekday afternoon and the place was completely dead. I wasn't too sure how to order from the happy hour menu. Their layout is weird. The bar is clearly visible and seperated from the rest of the dining room.. You would think this is a place where you get waited on. The interior looks much better than it does on the outside. It also looks small from the outside, but once you get inside it is pretty spacious. After awkwardly walking around trying to figure out if I was going to be seated or not, I see they have registers that says place order here, and pick up there. So I guess thats where I order. I was close but not cigar. They told me I had to order from the bar. It has been a few weeks so its hard to recall what I ordered. I believe it was the flautas, a margarita, and the grilled chicken fajita bowl. I had high expectations, but when the dishes came, I was very dissapointed. The flautas were probably what I was disappointed in the most. I guess because coming from El Toritto's and Chevy's I was expecting Aqui's to top theirs with the higher pricetag. Unfortunately thats the only high it got compared to theirs--the higher pricetag. I don't know if there are different types of flautas, but I always thought they were lightly crispy yet still soft texture. At least thats how they are over at El Torrito's and Chevy's. At Aqui's they were very crunchy and hard. Like it was a taquito. You only get 4 small pieces, and beans. Again at the higher price tag I expected more. El Torrito's I believe is $3 and so is Chevy's. El torrito's comes in huge portion, WITH french fries. Chevy's has no frys, but comes in 6 decently sized pieces, with a sweet and sour like dip. Now the chicken fajita bowl. I don't know how it resembles fajita, it was just strips of grilled chicken breasts, and a few at that, beans and tortilla chips. Again dissapointing. Oh they did serve you chips while you wait, and OMG this was horrible as well. It's like the giant bag of chips you get at costco. They don't even warm it up to make it look fresh. Salsa was medicore and also seemed like store bought. The thing I really enjoyed was the margarita. I got mango, not overly sweet like most. I gave them a try for their happy hour, and never will again. Perhaps thats why there was no one there. I might try their regular menu items in the future. If you want way better happy hour at cheaper prices, better portions, and better taste, El Torito and Chevy.s

I LOVE Aquis! I have been to this location and the one in Willow Glen, and they never fail to impress! I have to admit that the Sangria is my favorite (ha, ha), but the food is always fresh, HEALTHY, and the prices are really good for what you get!

Question: How does a place that serves up bland Cal-Mex food draw such large crowds? Answer: Serve up amazing industrial strength margaritas that have you drunk after one, wasted after two, and praying to whatever god you pray to after three.

Wow their drinks are strong!!! I took a swig off of my girlfriends glass and I started getting palpitations, a rosy glow and itchy feet. The food was decent. It's one of those Tex-Mex joints that cater to the typical White person (Don't trip, I'm part White). I ordered the fajitas. It had a great flavor and the chicken was relatively tender. I give it 3 stars and might be back if I'm ever in the mood to let loose.

I have to admit that the 1st time I visited Aqui's I didn't really think much of it. I cannot recall what I ordered, but I know I had no desire to go try it again. Cut to present day... I'm not sure how or why I went back but now I LOVE it - all of the locations, actually! Both the food and the drinks are excellent. Some of my favorites: 1 - Chips with Guacamole OR Black Bean Dip...or BOTH! 2 - Aqui Sampler - Hummus, Black Bean Dip, Polenta with Chips 3 - Cuban Pork Enchiladas I love these enchiladas...and I can't really tell you why. They are very tasty and filling. 4 - Aqui Swirl - margarita swirled with sangria. Yeah...I'm a big girl and these go straight to my head. I love feeling like a cheap date sometimes! ;) They have specials daily for the meals, soups and desserts. I can't recall eating anything I didn't like here. I really find it an adventure every time I go to see what the specials are...and the fact that you can see them on display makes it more fun because you know what you're getting for your money. If they have the cherry cobbler / crumble for dessert...get it! It's to-die-for!!! I must say that this place is also excellent for groups because everyone pays for their own meals at the counter so there's no awkward, and lengthy, bill calculations at the end of the night. Those moment can ruin a good meal, man!!!

went here the first time today. ordered the polenta with organic grilled veggies on top... comes with feta cheese. That was delicious. on a cold day, the polenta was very nice and smooth. My friend got the tofu bowl.. I thought it was a little weird, but it taste good. Im going to have to come back for their margarita... because their sign says... 'industrial strength".... thats definitely worth a try. I will update.

The 5 stars is for the Salmon Salad(which is made with organic greens), Blended Margarita(strong stuff, 1 will give me a buzz already lol), friendly customer service, and overall atmosphere! It's a great eats with a great price :) I've tried other dishes before but nothing tops the Salmon Salad ;)

I finally got a hold of my girl Jen and we decided to grab dinner together to catch up on all of our gossip with our lives - we both have had extremely busy schedules with us both having new (great paying) jobs - hehe! We weren't able to meet up until 8 so by the time we said our first hello's at her house it was close to 9. We decided just to go with the closest place to her new home and it turned out to be Aqui's. I don't mind Aqui's but I just have issues (bodily) with their food at other locations. With only 15 minutes to spare for us to get a drink, we hurriedly ordered the Veggie Quesidilla (for me) and the Polenta Veggie bowl (w/ chicken) for her. Both were really dry and bland - I was kinda depressed that we had to soak our food in sauces to make it somewhat appealing. i figured who really cared I guess cause we had Margaritas to quench our thirst. I liked the bartender, she was really nice and helped us out pretty quickly. After some catching up and 2 margaritas each later, we both had our perfect buzz on - too bad that when I got home to H, I just passed out on our bed (ah.. sorry, no lovin'), so I think he officially hates Aqui's and their margaritas - haha!

Came here for happy hour with the hubby last night to beat the heat and had a pleasant dinner. This is not authentic Mexican food, it Cal-Mex food and its GREAT!! Had I not been here before, its kinda confusing, on how to order etc... **For Happy Hour, you basically walk up to the bar, order your drinks and food and pay and then they give you a buzzer thing. Find a seat and then pick up your food, when it buzzes you.** **For the regular menu, go all the way to the back and follow the instructions above.** We both order margaritas for $5.25 each (score!) and ordered from the happy hour menu: -Barbacoa angus beef over polenta with bbq sauce and cilantro pesto OMFG...this was the BOMB! I could have ate 2 plates of this! And it's only on the Happy Hour menu! For $5.50, its is much better than your #4 meal from Mcdonalds! -Potato Taquitos Pretty good, the beans under them were ok...I would pass on these. -Chicken Flautas On top a huge plate of hummus, cucumber and hot sauce. Pretty tasty, the hummus was good with the chips.

I have gone to Aqui several times. The food has been consistently excellent. I order by looking at the special board and the sample plates by the cashier. I walk up, order that and a lemonade (free refills). I usually eat outside in the walled patio. When the beeper goes off I pick up my food and get a refill. It is a nice place for lunch or dinner.

My family and I are weekly regulars. I always order off the specials menu. Stand outs for me include the chicken fajitas and the burritos here. Why do my family and I come here every week? The bar. We just love having a good time all of the time. They have this crazy margarita with a liquor concoction that is sure to blow your mind. Try it. I dare you.

Aqui is really cheap, AND the food is very good. The place to go if you're craving something vaguely Mexican but also wanting to eat as healthy as possible. very casual and clean with a lot of booths and tables-.it can get a little noisy and busy on friday and saturday nights, so don't come here if you want a quiet evening. the staff is very friendly here - once they start seeing you more often, they'll make an extra effort to greet and talk to you ( though I know some people may get annoyed and prefer to be left alone). burritos, enchiladas, salads....take your pick, there's plenty worth trying here. check out the daily specials

what i ordered: paradise swirl (margarita with a shot of patron)--i had 2, should've stopped at 1...i'm on a good one now. and did i mention the prices of drinks is pretty reasonable. pulled pork enchilladas--hella good! but white rice as a side? i don't know about that, but hey i still ate it. i think next time, i'm going to eat at burrito factory which is across the street cause their food is cheap and good then walk to aqui and drink.

I'd come close to giving 5 stars, but the last few times I've been here, the food hasn't been as good as it once was, but still an excellent restaurant choice, in my opinion. I'm not one to frequent many Mexican food restaurants, but the ingredients used at Aqui's always seem very fresh. I'd often order the vegetarian quesadilla, and the vegetables were always so fresh, and firm, and not overly cooked as at most restaurants. It would also have feta cheese. Although, the last couple I had, had fewer veggies, more beans, and sometimes switched out cheeses, which I would not rate nearly as high as how I used to get them. I've also had their chicken quesadillas, their chicken salad with a ginger dressing, and several other items and specials. I don't order their salmon dishes, as the first couple times I tried that, it tasted fishy. At Aqui's you go up to the counter to order, which can make it a good place for groups to meet for a meal, as you don't have to deal with how to split the tab. They also make great sangria/margarita swirls! It's a nice place to go, if you've worked late, don't have time to cook a nice meal, but don't want to go to a fast food place, or take a long time at most restaurants. You can also order to-go. I've found it to be a great place for casual, quick, and healthy dining.

Wow, why have I never reviewed this Aqui? I have been going here for years. I love love love the food here. I look forward to seeing what their specials are and especially anticipate the desserts of the day. Their prices are so reasonable. The food is always fresh, healthy (for the most part), and filling. The salsa bar is always stocked up with their usual selections along with some special selections. Their service is top notch. Today we were greeted by three employees as we approached the register. Aqui is definitely the place to be!

One of my favorite neighborhood fresh-mex places.....way better than Chevy's. Cuban Pork enchiladas are my favorite and so are the BBQ chicken quesadillas...pumpkin seeds add a nice touch. It's a chill spot to come and eat. Sometimes it's crowded and noisy but the food is great and light and tastes so fresh. Been coming here for years and their take out is just as perfect as eating in the restaurant. The other locations are also the same. Love this place!

Everything about this place is great. You can go in, order a drink, sit down, order dinner at your convenience and it's ready in about 10 minutes. The food was excellent and you can't beat the prices. If you have dinner with a large pary there is more than enough seating and since you order and pay for your own dinner you don't have to try and figure out who owes how much for the bill. Love that. The INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH MARGARITA and SANGRIA SWIRL is FANTASTIC!!! A must try.

This location is always packed, and it's no wonder...the place literally is as good as it gets. Amazing, delicious food with a conscience. I love their vegetarian menu. The slaw that comes with the burritos is plate-licking good, in my humble opinion. I also love their iced tea-lemonade combo. I let my six-month-old sample the guacamole and he went nutso for it. Probably a mistake but we'll see how it plays out in the diaper zone.

I love eating here! It is a great place to get a fulfilling and refreshing meal. I don't eat here much because I don't have one close to me, but I come to this location with my grandmother when I visit her and everytime we eat here our tummies leave happy. I usually get the chicken avocado tortilla wrap with the mango-walnut salad.....oh how i love that salad! We always get the chips and guacamole as well and I love the fact that they are not stingy with the guacamole unlike other restaurants! If they open an Aqui closer to me, I will be a loyal regular customer!!

I love it! 1) Their peach-mango agua fresca is to die for. 2) They have a great vegetarian selection. The enchiladas are homey, filling, and way healthier than your favorite Mexican grease joint. They know how to make beans sing. I'm serious. I almost licked my plate. And by almost I mean totally. The Southwestern decor is fun, and the place is clean. A+.

Holy shitballs! I was not expecting anything. What I got was the margarita of a lifetime! Are you kidding me? Walking in, I didn't expect to see such a busy place - seemed pretty popular. I like the atmosphere in side. It's in between a restaurant and Taqueria with a full bar. You go up to order and they have plates on display of the food. Not fake either, as discovered by my Dale who had to stick his finger in the enchilada sauce because he thought it was fake. I ordered the chicken fluatas and my honey had the beef enchilada. My flautas were filled with a chicken filling, rolled in thin red corn tortillas and crispy. Both of our plates looked festive with sour cream streaks across the tops and served with a tasty green rice and whole black beans - very healthy! I got fresh guaucamole with mine. We both ordered large plates and they also have small plates but the menus are different for those. We liked the food, the atmosphere and stayed for quite deep in conversation even after we ate. It's not very often where we want to stay and just talk after finishing our meal so I'm sure we'll be back for more healthy food and nice atmosphere in the near future.

We took 5 bites of our food and walked out. absolutely DISGUSTING. NO TASTE VERY GENERIC TOOK 2 MINUTES TO PREPARE FOOD (FROZEN?) Unless you're trying to get drunk, don't come here. I'm only giving this place 1 star because 0 is not an option.

They have the right formula here. Nor do I understand the lower ratings. Welcoming atmosphere, child-friendly, reasonably-priced, good presentation, and great food! Though they have some hits-and-misses, I consistently have my proverbial faves here, from which they can never go wrong... Spinach/artichoke enchilada salad Red potato enchiladas Chicken enchiladas - my absolute favorite. Flourless chocolate cake SANGRIA!!!!! Unless the specials look good, I usually pass on everything else. Here's the reason - if I want a taco or a burrito, I'd rather go for Mexican rather than Cal-Mex.

Good prices, decent decor, awesome drinks from the bar, appealing menu. For the price range, this is really a great place. I'll admit that the menu can be hit or miss, but it's mostly good and when I can get dinner for me and my daughter for under $25 (including things like soup, dessert, drinks, etc.), I consider that a blessing. Sometimes the "misses" are the fish specials because they can sometimes be "fishy," which is not appealing. But there's usually a sauce to help cover that up and it's not consistently bad. I like their specials for the most part, and I especially like Saturdays with the squash soup (chunks) with pozole. The kiddie menu is TOPS. There's about 6 things to pick from and all only cost $1.99 or $2.99!

They have definitely stepped it up a bit from when the first opened but still something I can live without... Their chicken tends to be bland in their burritos however their ingredients are very fresh... but can you get some flavor in there per chance? Their margaritas are supposed to be good, but they are actually pretty hit or miss, nothing special as far as I can tell.. However they always seem to be decently busy... ***UPDATE 2/16/08*** I went here last night with the family for a birthday so there were a lot of different dishes to take a peek at... I had the pesto chicken wrap which also came with a salad, actually pretty tasty. Most people either got a bbq chicken burrito or a regular grilled chicken burrito with the slaw that everyone seemed to enjoy, I'm not a slaw kind of person... A couple people got the mahi mahi special which came with slaw again and sweet potatoes which was a strange combo but seemed to disappear from the plate pretty fast. We had chips and salsa/guac but the guacamole had no flavor aside from avocado and the salsa was watery and fresh but lacking in spice. There was however a dessert on their specials that looked exceptionally yummy it was a chocolate banana chimichanga with strawberries and cream over it.... I MUST go back there to get a try of that.... and a taste of their mixed margarita that is a regular margarita swirled with sangria... sounds delicious! so there will be another update coming at some point...

The Special's were great! I personally liked the flavor of it. I been here twice in a week because it is close to work & so far and it has some pretty good food. The salsa and chips are fantastic as well. Pricing isn't bad either. My only bad experience so far was with an onion soup one day. The soup was flavorful but it had hard specks of herbs and onion skin in it. Overall, I am a fan.

I ate here once and won't be back. Too expensive for a small plate of food. My nephew loves it but what does he know about great food, he loves this place because his friend works here. He's young, hungry and would eat almost anything. I have also reviewed the Aqui's in Willow Glen and this is a little worse than that one because it is less fancy and has no outdoor seating. It was real dark in here too. Never been a fan of Cal/Mex food. Give me the real think either cal food or mex food, why mix it all up and confuse everything. All in all, I would pass this one by and find some place else in the Santa Teresa area that serves better Mexican food. You can do better than this for sure.

I adore this joint. I agree with a person below me - very much like Sonoma Chicken Coop in the fact you get up to get your order. I always get the BBQ Chicken Quesadilla with the pumpkin seeds - YUM! The servings are generous to the point where I can take some home for lunch the next day. And it's very well priced. I love it here!

ooooo-weeeee! This is a truly great find. A good mix of reasonable prices, daily specials that increase the appetitie, and fresh organic ingredients. I've been here just a handful of times, but already a place I would recommend. Everything is tasty, they even offer vegetarian items (though I stick to the meaty treats). My favorite has to be the do it yourself salsa bar - kicks the butt of Rubio's and others. As for the full menu - I always end up getting one of the specials - something to be said about putting a picture in front of a hungry customer. Buon Appetite!

I eat here a handful of times a year, since it is close to my house and seems to have something for everyone. It is usually pretty busy, and the food comes out relatively quickly. What works: The quality of the ingredients is good and seems fresh Good selection of salads Food comes relatively quickly Free fountain drink refills Staff is friendly Ambiance is good What needs improvement: Portions are small "Fajita special" was a small crepe like concoction that had little in common with "normal" fajitas On last visit, I had to send my salad back when the dressing on the side was not on the side Indoor seating is limited

I absolutely love Aqui. Everything from their unique mix of Mexican and Californian flavors to their quality ingredients and and good prices, they are just fantastic! Don't go here expecting Mexican food, because you'll be disappointed. It is a fusion of flavors in a Mexican-type style. For instance, we had crab risotto tamales with a red cactus pear sauce and black beans for dinner the other night. No one makes better green salsa and their chips are perfectly salted and not real greasy. Guacamole is ok, but could use more of a kick. My husband loves the roasted tomato salsa. Margaritas here are strong and good! If you're not sure what to get, just go for one of the specials. You'll never go wrong with one of those!

This place is alright, nothing special. I got the bbq chicken burrito. Omg, it was like a dessert burrito. The coleslaw + bbq sauce is not a good combo, it tasted too sweet with raisins. The beans were bland. And the chips were okay, they taste best with salsa fresca. I also liked their chipotle sauce and ranch. But they have a wide variety of sauces which I liked. Its fun place, and everyone is nice. Maybe I'll try something better next time.

Let's not lie, I came for the alcohol. The sangria swirl for $6.25 is a pretty good deal! I only wish the food was better. I don't know why, but most of the menu doesn't seem appealing to me. I ended up choosing the Sonoma Goat Cheese quesadilla and it was not good. It was just so....healthy. Whole wheat tortilla? No grease? Not for me.

Aqui and I have been in a relationship for just over 4 years now. I saw it eying me one day as I drove by on Snell; its neon sign glistening in the sunlight. I couldn't help but think about it all night. I finally worked up the courage to go up to Aqui after practicing in my mirror for hours, yet all I could manage to belt out was "Hi, I'm Greg...I like your...big burritos? NO, stupid!" Aqui was nice about my failed charm and gave me an Angus beef burrito and Aqui Swirl, anyways. I knew this was real. This was love. If you are wondering what an Aqui swirl is, my friend, you just have to experience it to have even the slightest bit of understanding. The Aqui Swirl is the greatest blend of the masculine and feminine I have ever encountered! Similar to the white oleander, this drink looks pretty and innocent on the outside, yet contains dark and sinister intentions. It consists of their blended margarita mixed in with a heap of sangria, combining to form a hypnotic symphony of color. The lime/orange garnish and straw really solidify the girly aspect of the drink. The masculine half of the swirl kicks in once the liquid reaches your liver. I am a big guy, yet 2 of these will have me goooood to go. 2 and a half is bad news. Trust me. I have tampered with a good chunk of the menu, yet almost always order the Angus beef burrito. It is less than $7, tastes great, and will fill you up, guaranteed. You also get the sit-down atmosphere, so it is a great bargain in my book. The only menu item I have disliked thus far is the BBQ Quesadilla; the flavors just do not mesh well. The side dishes are also poor in my opinion. The burritos come with cole slaw and chips. I hate slaw, but that is just me. You can substitute for something else, but the other options aren't much better...basically just things that are already in my burrito like rice and beans. They have great roasted tomato salsa, yet they replaced their tasty tortilla chips with these cardboard chips. Not sure if they did it to be healthier or more cost effective, but it was a bad move. While Aqui and I have had our slight differences, I still love it and will be coming back as long as I live in the area...and they play Sharks games.

Aqui has three restaurants in the area... I've only been to the San Jose one. I LOVE the new, fresh mexican cuisine.... Aqui updates their menu quite frequently, to keep their fresh Tex-Mex cuisine sizzling! Never boring... for example, I've had the grilled salmon over polenta with roasted chipolte aioli sauce... would never guess it to be mexican, but yes indeed... The chicken empanadas are awesome, and the burritos fabulous. Plenty of chips and salsas to dole out, just ask. Their margaritas are the BEST, and if you hit happy hour, the more bang for the buck! (Believe it when they say Industrial Strength! I've sat and watched the staff make the sauce they use to put into their blending machines.... whew!) They have have full bar -- they have a chalkboard of what they can mix up for you. Watch a football game on tv and toss back a few cold ones.

We have been to Aqui's many times and unfortunately we were disappointed this past time. We specifically go on Friday nights to have the Mahi Mahi special. It seems, however, that Aqui's has discontinued it. My husband had the sole special but he said it was flavorless and disappointing. I had the thai burrito and it didn't have much pzazz, even after ordering extra sauce. The cole slaw was bland and I went home unsatisfied with this meal. I hope they bring back the Mahi Mahi special so I can enjoy Aqui's on Friday nights again!

I like this place. The food is good and i love their outside patio. Its not your old fashion Mexican food, but food is always good. Nice place to hang out.

Aqui's is satisfying and cheap- what more could you want during your lunchbreak?! You can't go wrong with the Thai Chicken burrito- it comes with yummy coleslaw and chips for something under $7.50. Another one of my faves is the Salmon roll- up with Apple Walnut salad.... I wouldn't classify this as "real" Mexican food though, and as the name suggests, is a hybrid "Cali-Mex" style restaurant (READ: Cali-infusion, consisting of plenty of healthy and organic choices). Far from traditional taqueria style food, mind you, which isn't a bad thing, just not similar to some of the food where I live.

I LOVE this place! It is my first choice on a hot summer evening because I can sit on the patio with a swirl (Sangria, but instead of ice the put in slushie Margarita) and lose track of time. Great fun- I always leave giggly and smiling. Food is good too :)

3 1/2 Stars (rounded down) My first time here, I figured it out....drinks good, food bad. I finally came back to this location after a few years, and was surprised. First off, it was packed and everyone looked like they were having a great time..I figured out why after ordering drinks. I got the industrial strength margarita, and my gf got the sangria swirl. That swirl is probably their best drink, but the margarita was good too. I fought brainfreeze w/ each sip, and after only 1/5 of my drink, the alcohol hit me!! by the time i finished my drink and had some of my girl's, I was Drrrruuuunnnkkkkk!!!!!.............and hungry. I ordered the chicken taco and she got the southwest taquito w/ green rice and black beans. I got a side of macha salsa and mango habanero salsa. My food was surprisingly good.......I didn't expect it to be, and it didn't look like it would be.........but it was. The coleslaw that came on the side was just ok My girl thought her food was disgusting, but I thought it was pretty good, even the green rice was ok. our friend ordered the Salmon, but it was cold! that's why I rounded down to 3 stars instead of up to 4. The macha salsa was not my type, but the mango habanero was good....and they get bonus points for having jalapenos AND sour cream at the salsa bar!!!! YEAH!!! I would come back here again, but my girl won't touch anything but drinks if she even comes..... Now here's a disclaimer, the food may have seemed good to me because I was drunk....either way, based on past experience, I prefer not to eat here sober......to be safe I won't even order my food until after I'm drunk. ** ok, i've gotta admit this is probably one of the best margaritas I've had....it's up there w/ sinaloa in morgan hill.

What can't I say? This place always puts a smile on my face. No matter what day of the week it is, they aim to please. The service is counter style, but they are so organized, I practically feel as though I'm being waited on. The food choices are awesome and picking a dish takes me a long time. The alcohol is great and my wife loves the swirls. I highly recommend the salmon wraps, or the teriyaki burrito. However, my wife usually picks any dish with tofu and absolutely loves it. It's a great place to watch a sports game or just people watch. It's a must try, small group or large.

I have been eating at Aqui for years and frankly IMO it is hand's down the best value in the valley. The food is amazing, fresh, delicious. The service is friendly knowledgable and fast. And the prices are so good that I can't afford NOT to eat at Aqui. I could go on and on... (btw, the margarita's are outstanding too!).

We LOVE Aqui Cal-Mex. It has been one our regular eateries for years. Always great food, and a regularly changing menu of great, creative specials. Even their regular menu staples (my favorites) are excellent. Great food, great atmosphere - highly recommended!

I crave Aqui's about every 2 weeks..its cheap, casual, clean, fun place to eat and drink with friends...food is different and probably a lot healthier than real mexican food I'm hooked on their SWIRLS! they are sooo good...every know and then just gotta have one! Food is usually really good... to be honest the first time i went the food was kind of bland and dry but after i gave it another chance everything was pretty good...favorites are: BBQ chicken quesadilla, Tai chicken burrito, BBQ chicken burrito and the flourless chocalate cake....mmmm

YUM YUM YUM!!!!! Every time I've been here I have been more than impressed!!!!! Such a great, healthy, selection!! All of the employees are very helpful and friendly as well!!!! I highly recommend AQUI'S!!!! Can't wait to go back and try something new next time!!! Yummy fresh salsa bar as well, and I never feel guilty after eating here as I tend to do after other Mexican food places!!! Viva aqui!

Good food for quite a low price! The resteraunt is self-served so the cost is a little lower and budget friendly. They usually place "models" of the specials for you to view similar to Sonoma Chicken Coop. We highly recommend getting chips because they are fresh and crispy! The salsa however was a little on the weak side in regards to heat and taste. As far as the drinks go, go for the fountain drinks. The magaritas you get at the front counter are extremely STRONG at least for my taste! They do however have a full bar that probably makes better drinks.

I rarely order from the menu because I love their rotating specials. The display plates by the cashier always get me! The dishes are interesting and varied and I am never disappointed.. unless I forget to tell them NO SOUR CREAM. But of course, that's my fault. :)

decent for fake mexican food. Well, I guess since it's fake, it's pricey. But compare to chevy's and other fake places, this place is less pricey. But I'd rather go to Chevy's. Do not get tomato soup. it's bad.

WOW! No dogs allowed on the patio. Funny, there's no law against it, and the other Aqui's allows dogs on their patio. I guess management just isn't pet friendly. Well there are better, and friendlier places to eat.

Aqui is the perfect place for: birthday parties and people who love to drink alcohol. So of course, my best friend would plan to have my birthday party here. It's great for large parties because it's cafeteria style. You can choose and pay for your own food and drinks, so you don't need to hassle over splitting the bill. Plus, they lay out a whole selection of food so you can just point to choose! But let's keep it real, people love coming to Aqui for the Swirls on Swirls on Swirls! These frozen drinks are tasty. I really like them because they get the job done. They do limit the drinks to two per person, so be careful how much you drink!

I wish we had one of these restaurants a little further north! We had a great meal last night - I ordered an avocado with roasted corn burrito and it was very fresh and I ate all of it. The margaritas are also excellent!

I have eaten here 2 times now. 1st time I tried the Chicken enchiladas and this time I tried the CHicekn Adobo quesadilla. I am really digging the Green salsa YUMMY! Also Big thumbs up on the Arnold Palmer mixture ( Lemonaide and IceTea ) My experiences here have been pleasant and the food has been good. Honestly it isnt my homemade food or my Mom's or Grandma's authentic Mexican food. I will say I am enjoying the healthy twists and that its very convient and easy to enjoy this food and not get sick afterward.

We love Aqui and have been there many times. It is consistently good whether you are ordering from the regular menu or their specials. You can tell the ingredients are fresh and the unusual combinations mean you will enjoy the food while having something unique. It's not quite fast-food quick, but it is quick. When you go in you'll order at the counter, find a table and come back to pick up the food when it is ready. They always have a sample of their specials at the counter so you can see what they look like. Just recently my husband and I had the Chicken Bacon Serrano Burrito and the Avocado Roasted Corn Burrito - both very good. Although we both had Burritos, there are many other items to choose from. We've tried many of the menu items and their specials and have almost never been disappointed. It does get busy (a good sign of its popularity) so you may have to wait a short time to get a table but we have always found one before our food was ready.

Love the food from here! It's more of a Latin-Asian fusion cuisine. What makes this restaurant great is they use locally grown, wild, sustainable, organic ingredients. You can taste the freshness. Because of their high quality ingredients, I don't feel bad feeding my son food from here. It's a healthier choice of fast food at a great price. My family and I eat here about every other week. I love the causal, easy-going vibe. You just grab a menu then go up and order. The restaurant is self-seated. They have an amazing side bar with different selection of salsas and dressings. I love their roll up special and daily special menus which change every month or so. But my all time favorite are the California crab roll-up that comes with soup or salad and the Lemon chicken small plate. The crab cake in the roll up is always moist, soft inside and crunchy outside. I love the texture that the jicama gives in the dish as well. The lemon chicken small plate has the perfect balance of tangy and sweetness. We never dine-in, so I can't tell you how it is eating there but as take out, the food is presented nicely in the to-go box and it holds up very well. The only down side the the parking. It can be a zoo trying to find a parking space. Hence, minus one star. All in all, this place is worth the drive every time!

I'd have to say one of my favorite restaurants for different reasons! The ambiance feels a little more relaxed/casual but inviting as well as well decorated. I've had many things on the menu and have not been disappointed at all. Everything tastes fresh, a little on the light side for those who don't like feeling bloated after a meal, but without sparing any flavor whatsoever. The servings are generous and there is always a new dish on their board that is not part of their regular menu items. I like how the dishes incorporate some atypical ingredients, combining them in ways I haven't had anywhere else! They have original ideas on how food should taste making flavors dance all over your palate. My personal favorite is the California Crab Cake Tortilla Rollups (the name has changed a couple times I believe). Oh and of course you can't leave without trying an industrial margarita or one of their swirls!

The best crab cake salad around. This has got to be the tastiest salad I've ever had! I love the crunchy crab cake with the sweet mango. It's not only pleasing to look at, but so incredibly tasty. And who doesn't love a swirl?

So my friends and I came here for their 'happy hour..' When we got there, we found out that their drinks were only off 50-80cents during happy hour... really?....(-__-) And that there is no happy hour food... But that didn't stop us from having a good time! I always saw pictures of the swirls and I was excited to finally try them! Each of us got a swirl! Man, that stuff is strong... It was good though, but if you are imagining it to be like a Fat Tuesday, then this is not for you.. but just get it anyways! I mean you just gotta try since you're here. I got the Paradise Patrón Swirl. It was pretty good. I also got to try a few sips of the Sunrise Swirl and Sangria Swirl. Both were refreshing! On the other hand, the food was delicious! I got to try a few bites of everyone's dishes. I ordered the Green Chile Crab and it was so yummy! Other dishes we ordered -- Chicken enchiladas, Salmon enchiladas + more. Their food is fresh and flavorful. Their salsa bar is amazing! -- Salsa Fresca, Serrano-Tomatillo, Salsa Macha, Mango Habanero, Chipotle Dressing, Ranch Dressing... So much variety! We ordered chips and you can refill as many times as you want! We definitely got our money worth for the salsa and chips! ($3). GET THE CHIPS! Just get 'em. I'M COMING BACK TO TRY THE REST OF THEIR FOOD.

I love this place, mainly for the swirls though. I've gone here multiple times and I always have such a great experience. I tend to order the Sonoma Goat Cheese quesadilla because I enjoy goat cheese. The quesadilla is filled with corn and goat cheese, with beans on the side. It's pretty filling and it taste delicious. I usually come really hungry so I also order the Aqui Sampler which is pretty large so that I can munch on some food while waiting. The chips are unlimited and it comes with bean dip, hummus, and avocado and salsa. I recommend getting the cheese on top of the bean dip as well as a little bit of the spicy sauce in the hummus; it adds a little oomph. The chicken enchiladas are also delicious. I would say it's more filling than the goat cheese quesadilla and just as tasty. The swirls though, are probably the best part. They're slightly expensive and it's only a few cents cheaper during happy hour; however, it's worth every penny. I usually get a swirled margarita but they also have swirled martinis. They have so many different options to choose from and there's usually a monthly special too. The bartenders are great and don't skimp out on the alcohol in the drinks. The only downside is that it gets really busy during peak dinner hours and it can be difficult to find a seat. Even though there's bar seating, lots of table seating, and outdoor seating, it still fills up. 4 stars for friendly staff, good food, and delicious swirls.

Swirlssssssss!!!!! This is my go to place when I want to have a drink and relax. They're strong, cheap and delicious. They have many different types of swirls, I personally prefer the sunrise. You can ask to sample a couple to see which ones you like! Please come try a swirl, you will not regret it :)

Yes yes yes, everyone loves the swirls & so do I. But this place needs really check on their bartender (baldie). I was just here about 2-3 weeks ago with my friend (that he claims he sees all the time), and since my last visit I came back; but I SWORE I forgot my ID in my other wallet because I constantly switch between my phone case wallet & my actual wallet. Anyway, the bald bartender refused to let me have a drink even if he remembers me or not and even if we had proof that I was there. If that's how he feels, fine; however he did NOT even bother check my friend's cousin's ID cause he said he sees "them" all the time.... HOLD UP HOLD UP HOLD UP!!! He needs to stop, drop, & roll himself out of here --It was my friend's cousin's FIRST time here from FRESNO!!! She even said so. Plus, she even looks younger than myself (not to say that she looks like a kid or anything, but she looks younger than me!) So I'm here thinkin this foo must be drunk on the job or sum.. I understand about checking ID and policies, but he didn't even check my friend's cousin's ID & has the AUDACITY to tell her in front of my face that he remembers her cause "she comes here all the time." Over all, someone (management) needs put him on check cause he could be serving alcohol to underage drinkers JUST cause he supposedly "sees them ALL THE TIME." *pshhh Trying to tell me about "policies" when this citizen is calling the shots & basing policies off of his own "memory". LOL K, now I'm done.

One of the better restaurant's we've been to in the last year. This is a Mexican restaurant but to me its more of a tex-mex/Mexican fusion kind of food with very unique take on dishes. We usually come on weekends or at night and its usually pretty packed. They have a nice bar, its opening seating, and you order up front and get called to pick up the food. (similar to the somona chicken coop) This place also does a good job on their drinks...from the swirls to the beer to the mixed drinks. To me the drinks are pretty strong and their not skimpy on the amount of alcohol they put in . Usually we get the chips with the mixed assortment of dips such as guac, bean dip, hummus...what we really loved was how the chips was unlimited. Definitely recommend it if your with a group of people. As for the entrees, we usually go with the specials as they differ from each day. What I really like about them are the big portions and how fresh everything is. Overall, I would recommend this place for large groups, the freshness food, as well as being reasonably priced. Would definitely come back.

How is it that this was my first time here? I literally live down the street! Anyways I'm so glad I came here because it is so good! My friend had decided to get dinner here. He wanted something healthy for dinner and I suggested we try this place out. Wow I'm so brilliant! The food here are fresh, organic and tasty! I went ahead and ordered the daily special because I couldn't resist a healthy enchilada option! The daily special on Monday was the artichoke and kale enchilada. I was very impress when the plate came out. It looked almost too pretty to eat. The plate came with three enchiladas, stuffed with an artichoke and kale filling. It was layered with fresh arugula ( it looked like arugula but it was wilted so I couldn't really tell. I wasn't paying too much attention to it too! Oops!) and two fried pieces of squash. I totally thought they were fried avocado but after dissecting it, it is confirmed. They were squash! The yellow sauce that came with the enchiladas were a bit sour if you ate it alone but eating it with everything else is fine. Not sure what's in the sauce though. Regardless, it was the healthiest enchiladas I've ever had! My friend ordered the Sonoma goat cheese quesadilla. I stole a bite! Hehe it was really good. The goat cheese was very tasty. I think I might order that next time we come! We also ordered chips and guacamole. Oh did I mention the salsa bar?! Love it!! I can sit there all day! And do not skip out on the agua fresca! The ones we got were mango flavor and oh boy it was so refreshing! Oh by the way, there's free refills on them! What?!! That's insane but thank you for the refills! Okay a break down how this place works: You walk in, order and pay. They hand you a pager. Pick a seat. And pick up your food when your pager rings! So simple! No tip needed! I am definitely coming back here. And next time, I'm going to try their swirls! Maybe two swirls. But never more than two! And always have a designated driver when you drink them! :) good eats y'all! #eatwithquyen

LOVE THE SWIRLS!! Food is healthy and they have standard menu and ever-changing specials. It is good, but somehow not special. My friends and I mostly agree: we come for the swirls, but usually eat elsewhere. Still, it's worth it for the SWIRLS! Large enough to accommodate large groups. Outside seating is usually nicest unless very hot or very cold. Not as noisy as inside. I've had all their swirls and many of the special swirls. TRUST THE SPECIALS! No matter how weird it sounds, it is always good and always THE BEST!! If you want a table on a Friday, you gotta get there before 4 or after 7!! SWIRLS are strong, though, so most people do one max. Two and you need to sit it out or have a DD. Three and you're nearly under the table!! Don't know anyone who has drunk four and lived to tell about it!!

Great food. Great service. Great prices. Obviously great swirls. Just not great seating... I love all aqui's but I have to say this one is the hardest to find a place to sit at. Clearly that means they are doing great business, but as a customer (who lives down the street so I visit frequently) that is not fun. PS they have some of the best salmon ever!

Entering Aqui's you go through the line, order your food, pick up a beeper, and have a seat. The woman behind the register have sorry advice "all the specials are good". Come on, I watch the food channel. I know better than that. The other woman behind the register gave me better advice, I asked her opinion between the adobo and he crab cake. She said crab cake. It was good! Better looking than the burritos or really anything else any of my friends got. The eye was not impressed with the tortillas. So mine looked good and tasted good with an solid serving of avocado on top. Check the pic. However, the beans were way under cooked. Really this would be a 2.5 star at this point but I rounded up.

My first time coming to this location and I'm pretty impressed. Never actually eaten the food here but I'll write a review about the swirls and the restaurant. It's definitely a lot bigger than the one located in downtown Campbell. The outdoor area is pretty roomy. The swirls are delicious and SUPER strong as always. 1 1/2 or just even one gets me pretty buzzed. $3 for chips and salsa and free refills!!! Wooooo

Came here on a Friday and realized they don't have Happy Hour (only Monday to Thursday, 4pm to 6pm). But we didn't mine and still went for the swirls! The line for the bar side was kind of long when we first got there, but it moved pretty quickly. I first went to the food side to order since they also offer the swirl (Sunrise) I was going to order. I got a chicken potato quesadilla from the Kid's Menu because I wasn't too hungry. I was told by the cashier that drinks are actually cheaper by $0.75 at the bar. So I went ahead and just ordered the food and then order the drink at the bar. The bartender was very nice and made the drink quickly since I just got the Sunrise Swirl. Also had the Aqui Sampler of chips with black beans, hummus, and avocado. All of the dips were very delicious! The hummus was my favorite. The beans were great! Avocado also came with some salsa as well. The outside seating was pretty much packed by the time we got there so we sat inside, which was fine. The food was great, even the Kid's Meal. The swirl was yummy, but definitely very strong. I definitely recommend following the whole "limit to two drinks" rule by the restaurant. Overall, I had a great experience here! Would definitely come back for swirls!

I always have a good time when I come here. Parking can be a little tricky on the weekends. That means it's also busy inside. If you are a group, someone should go ahead of the rest to get a table, and get your drink order going. Swirls as always, are delicious. Staff is attentive and try to keep tables cleared as people come and go.

This place has awesome food. The food always tastes fresh and the price is great too. It's one of my favorite places to eat. I also like how specials menu is always different. It's always busy but worth the wait.

Not sure who this complaint is about but I guess it rests with Aquis for poor crowd management. We have come in later in the evening on a Friday night and not found seating. But it's not that there isn't seating available really, it's that people hoard their table loooong after they are done eating or drinking. They sit at empty tables making every effort to avoid eye contact with people holding their plates or trays looking for a seat. I guess I am just one of those jerks who feels guilty and obligated to give up a table to the next customer when I see them looking for a seat and I really don't need mine any longer. I give up the table when I am done to be a good citizen and thoughtful patron and a supporter of the business. But there are multiple people who do not do this and it has absolutely diminished Aquis business. Way to support the place people. Suggestion (not that it matters as I am not likely to return anytime soon) Have your cashiers gently and respectfully tell people as they order their food, "thanks for coming in, we are really busy tonight so if it's not too much trouble please consider giving up the table shortly after you've enjoyed your meal." It's honest and plants the seed for a little pay it forward. Some may not like it, but it'll be better than getting more angry reviews like this one.

I would have to give their swirls 5 stars bc they are amazing!! I did end up with food poisoning shortly after I left Aqui's last night. I had the chicken fajitas and honestly I'm not sure what caused it but I did to to the emergency room just be sure I didn't have salmonella poisoning, which thankfully, I didn't. It may sound dramatic but when you are throwing up non-stop, dehydrated, fever, chills and can't even hold down water, it's no joke. Just a heads up for the chefs that work in the back make sure your food isn't left outside to spoil. I have eaten many different types of "foods" at different restaurants, countries, etc. and I have never once had food poisoning. Roxanne

First off I'd like to say that the food is great appetizers and drinks of course, but I do have a problem with one of the staff members there who took a picture of me while he was on duty and violated my personal privacy while I was having a appetizer after work I personally know who it was and his name is Martin Garcia the cook . So for everyone who thinks they can just relax and have great food I feel bad for anyone he thinks he can just meddle in there in there life's and take pictures of them to purposely cause problems.I really don't appreciate this and I hope that the manager at this place address this problem

My family and I have eaten both brunch and dinner at Aqui. Each time the food's been really good and full of healthy ingredients. No matter which one you go to, Willow Glen or the one by Blossom Hill, the food or drinks won't disappoint. Only complaint I have are sometimes we choose forks or spoons that have not been completely washed and small pieces of dried food are visible. You have to get your own silver wear and napkins. I guess that keeps the costs down, as the restaurant is not full service. That's another thing--great prices! All around its a good place to get a meal and a strong patron margarita.

Impressed. I had a salmon cake for brunch over the weekend and it was damn tasty! All the flavors worked really well and it definitely had presentation going on. My sister had a boring chicken quesadilla, Dad had pancakes (also boring) and my dad's lady friend had the crab cake. I tried a bit of it all and everything was good, not just mine. I heard the drinks are off the hook too, so next time i'm in San Jose, I definitely need to get one. Good Salsa bar, and fountain drinks at your service which is always nice. I like the style of ordering and then waiting for the food, that way when you're done and really full, you can just leave and not have to wait around to get a check from someone. ;)

Best inexpensive Mexican food around!! In from Out of town and the service was PHENOMENAL to say the LEAST!! I was highly impressed and pleasantly surprised. Loved it. Atmosphere is great. It's a little loud but there's places you can step outside to take a call.

We have been going here for years and the food is always good, the salsa is also very good, and they used to have Squirt on their soda fountain. It has been a while since I have been back but I think I remember not seeing Squirt last time I was there. Big thumbs down for that! I removed a star because this place has no idea how annoying blasting the crap out of the music can be to someone who likes to eat in quiet. There is no escaping the shitty music. You eat inside it's blaring, you eat outside, it's even louder. I go out to eat at a restaurant, not to dance or listen to crappy music. If I want that kind of noise, there are dozens of stores in the mall where I can go. I removed one more star for the prices. They seem a little high for what you get, although the chips and salsa are bottomless. If I could give them 3.5 stars I think they have earned it but that extra half star can come off for the loudness of the lousy music they blast.

5 for the swirls and how strong they are! They get a lightweight like myself, good to go after one! :) This location is busier than the other ones I've seen, so seating is always a little hard to find with a party more than 2. However, if you see an empty table with its previous guests' trash on it, don't hesitate to ask one of the many employees roaming around to clear it for you they'll clear it within a minute or so! I haven't had the food here other than the chips and salsa, along with my swirl of course, but it reminds me of a typical fresh mex place. My stars are for the drinks, and the service.

Let me preface this review by stating that Aqui is not "authentic" Mexican Food, nor is it meant to be authentic Mexican Food. It is closer to what is popularly know as Tex-Mex (with Asian influence): a type of cuisine ubiquitous in the Desert Southwest (i.e., Arizona, New Mexico, Texas). We don't have many of these types of establishments here in San José (or California for that matter!) because we're so spoiled by the abundance of "Authentic" Mexican Food. With all that being said, I really love Aqui's food because it's a nice changeup. I've never had a bad meal here but I'm not sure I have a clear cut favorite. Here's a quick list of my favorite items at Aqui's in no particular order: -Swirls: I think everyone knows about Aqui's Swirls by now. They're essentially an "Industrial Strength Margarita" that'll knock you on your butt if you're not careful. I think they limit you to 2, or 3, but I'm usually good with just one--I'm a cheap date. -Cuban Pork Enchiladas: Deliciously spiced pork rolled in Tortillas with Plantains and Cheese. -Roasted Pork Carnitas: Who doesn't love slow-roasted pork shoulder in an Ancho sauce? I'll tell you who: Commies. -Colorado Angus Beef: Wonderfully tender chunks of beef in a red chile sauce. I love the polenta-sweet potato fritter that comes with it -- it's pretty terrific. Honorable mentions: -Kid's Menu: Lots of good healthy food at a great price (±$5). -Salsa Bar: I love me some fresh Salsa and Aqui's delivers. Try the Mango Habenero; it's got the Sweet & Spicy thing down perfectly! If you're looking for authentic Mexican cuisine I'd recommend going down the street to Casa Teresa or El Tule. But if you're looking for a nice change of pace from the everyday hum-drum Mexican then Aqui's is calling your name.

I'm a huge fan of this place - the Swirls are to die for. The bartenders are always attentive and always smiling. Nothin like going there after a hard day's work and having yourself a Swirl with guac' and chips!!!! My only complaint would be it gets so packed that its hard to find a seat... :)

For the first time in my (five year) college life, I went to Aquis -hard to believe, right?! We ate prior, so we just ordered chips & salsa (UNLIMITED CHIPS&SALSA, might I add) and a DELICIOUS SWIRL ($9). Margarita Swii-irrrrl, Swiii-irrrl (#OITNB Reference). The amazing part is.... if you have one too many swwi-irrrls and are unable to drive, Aqui's offers their parking lot as a place to leave your car until the next morning (8am) to prevent drinking and driving! Definitely coming back for more swii-irrrls

This seems to be a happy medium between my family...vegetarians and meatlovers. Looks like they have a fair amount of options for both. There's also the easy kids menus as well. Just hard to find a table since no reservations can be made for big groups. Gotta stand guard and fight for your openings. Salsa bar is nice with all the dips and once you order the appetizer..comes with chips....unlimited refills :)

This place, as well as the one in Campbell, can get really busy on weekends. My bf and I don't really care for the food, although we did enjoy their brunch menu once. We, as everyone does, go there for the swirls. My bf always gets the avocado swirl, which sounds gross.. but actually really good! Me, on the other hand, usually stick to the paradise patron swirl. The recommended limit is 2 per person.. and you will easily notice why... they are pretty strong. I usually hate tequila, they give me headaches, but I do enjoy Aqui's swirls. Only word of advice: the "bartenders" are not real bartenders, so don't ask and expect for good cocktails. Even a vodka with a splash of cranberry can be messed up.. For reals. STICK WITH SWIRLS. It's what they know only.

    (4)
  • Aleksia B.

Love this place, the swirls are amazing, but since I don't drink vodka, I get special mojitos made for me. The guy who works the evening shift is young, but can make a mean ass drink. I love how their food is pretty healthy and local, but still tastes amazing. My favorite part is that you can only spend $20 here and get a full tummy and get drunk. The extra bonus is it's right by the light rail so you can pregame here and then go downtown for a night of fun.

I ate in this place more times than in any other in San Jose and never get tired of coming here. This is also a very easy takeout and food is still fresh when I get home. My favorite menu item is fish / salmon tacos. Soooo good! The place is also well priced whether you're ordering for two or for the whole family. We often order for us and three kids and still come down under 39 bucks. We love the service and how fresh everything tastes and often take out-of-town visitors here for a meal. The fact that we order from here at least weekly tells you this place deserves 5-stars.

Allow me to start with the Swirls here are no joke! I enjoy them and they sure do pack a punch! I have yet to try the food here, but the swirls I have tried, and they are BOMB! My only issues are that the seating here is a little out of control when it is a busy night. Also, the parking can suck at times too. Aside from that, service and drinks are what is up. Overall; the swirls are enough to make me go here!

    (4)
  • Denise N.

The food here sucks ( I don't like tex-mex food but if you do, try it) but the swirlz will do their job! Seating is pretty hard because its open seating and if you have a big group, you either have to go early, or linger by a table that's almost done while not looking awkward. Parking is a bit hard too. I don't like the food or the open seating, but I come here for the swirlz @_@

The best things about Blossom Hill Aqui: Alex, the bar manager who actually knows his customers The swirls The food. Awesome place.

  • Mely M.

Amazingly delicious healthy food that is reasonably priced AND they have a patio! Grab a friend or more and GO! Every one knows about the swirls, but I don't drink so I go for the food! The plates are wonderfully paired with flavors that compliment and contrast. However, if there is something you cannot tolerate most likely they can substitute something you do.The flourless chocolate cake was more like a torte that melted in my mouth and came with whip cream and blackberries in blackberry sauce. If you are a chocolate lover don't cheat yourself by skipping this, but portions are large so if you're full - get it to go.

Been here twice for lunch now and remain an avid fan! Authentic Mexican food is not served here but don't let that stop you. I currently enjoy their Avocado Roasted Corn Burrito which is less than $10 and is served with a salad. I'm not even vegetarian and I love this dish! This is a good place to find quality food at an affordable price. Atmosphere is casual and spacious so it is good for groups.

Ok, yea.. I'm a regular. I can't help the way I feel about their swirls.. It's like a feeling I know I shouldn't have but my infatuation is too strong. I can sing a song about the love I have but the song would be too long. Blahblshblahblah, Their swirls are about $8-9 dollars and well worth it. I usually get their paradise patron with extra love. CAUTION;;;;;; It's true, it is a tad bit strong. I suggest pairing their swirls with chips and dip. Also, their food is pretty good as well. I've had the chicken quesadilla, Thai wrap, and random things on the menu. I have not had a disappointment in anything.

Once upon a time 3 idiots decided to drink 2.5 swirls after a long hike on mission peak. The swirls slowly crept up on them, and by the time they reached their homes, yack city was only a distance away. Moral of the story, don't drink 2.5 swirls, because you will throw up and die. Don't drink 2.5 swirls standing up. Don't drink 2.5 swirls sitting down. Just don't do it, okay? Okay now everyone drink a swirl. ON A REAL NOTE, this place has below-average food. I'd only go here for the swirls muahaha.

  • Gina N.

Only 2 stars because I've NEVER actually dined here before. The most I've had was their chips and salsa. My friends and I come here for the swirls! Which are crazy strong. For some people the swirls are delicious. For the other half, it's pretty much like drinking death, but totally tolerable haha. If that makes any sense. If you're sensitive to the alcohol taste like me but want to get a good buzz, chug it. You'll get a brain freeze for sure, but that's part of the consequences for ordering these things. Try breaking it down to 2-3 portions. It's usually super crowded whenever we go, but that's usually during the evenings on the weekends so it makes sense. You find yourself a table here, and help yourself pretty much. You go up to order, and they'll give you a buzzer. There's indoor and outdoor seatings. They've added new swirl flavors lately. Last night I tried the cherry cola, and it's by far the best I've had. And by that I mean the one that taste the least like alcohol. The serving is a pretty big cup for $8 each.

After my fourth time back.. Aquis you have won me over again. I still don't like the green chicken or beef verde thing that I got. Everything else though is tasty, healthy and light. This place has amazing specials and it taste absolutely great. The food is fresh and just plain ole yummy.

I have been to Aqui in Campbell and this was the first time I went to the Blossom Hill location. I came here with a few friends for dinner on a Friday night. And it was crowded. One thing that frustrates me about Aqui is the process of finding a table to sit. Unlike other restaurants, you don't write down your name and wait for your name to be called. You just have to keep walking around to see if any table is available. If none is available, which is the case on Fridays and Saturdays, you just need to wait until somebody leaves the table and run to snatch it. We ordered Avacado Dip and Chicken Enchiladas. Both were really good. 2 people could split a meal if you are not ravenous. Their cocktails look appealing, I'll try something during my next visit. There is also a bar where there is a number of free dips. The ambience is noisy, its great if you are here to hang out with your friends for a drink and dinner.

Good. So I talked to the head chef and he felt bad. He sent me complementary coupons. Plus is I got that he heard me. It was no fun being that ill. Pretty sure I will not be going back any time soon...yet a good gesture indeed. Will probably go for drinks though..these are well made!

GEEEZZZZZ, I'm so late with the hype! My friends and I chose Aqui for our next dinner and drinks spot. I have never tried their swirls, but all I knew before coming here was that after two... you're pretty much DONEZO! I liked their food menu and the wide selection of sauces they had on the counter. The last time I felt overwhelmed with sauces was when I was at some restaurant in Cabo. There were a couple that didn't sit well with me, but other than that I loved the variety! I also liked the idea of not having to flag a waiter to order food and drinks! DRINKS -------------------- Mai Tai Swirl - My first swirl. It was good, but I liked the second I had better. lol Sunrise Swirls - I'd recommend this one if it's your first time! *I'd skip the mojito swirls... my friend ordered it and it was really bad.. The bartender made it wayyyyy too minty, she needed help finishing it cause it was gross* lol FOODS -------------------- Hummus w/ Chips - Not bad for a starter!!! Chicken Flautas - This dish comes with only two, but very good flautas! Grilled Salmon - I really liked this especially with the fried potato fritter that came with it! *will return*

My family and I went to Aqui's for a family dinner to celebrate my brother and sister's birthday's. It was a Friday so we knew it would be packed. When we got there it was a mad house. We still were able to score 2 patio tables and chairs, the food/drink line moved really quickly, the food was out quickly, and the staff was so helpful!!!! Our dinner party was a success. My family and I all agree that the highlight of the night was the awesome service we received by a sweet young man named Tyler P. Even though the place was swamped, he was patient, nice, funny, overly accommodating, and couldn't do enough for us!! We will definitely return for a swirl night or dinner very soon!!

This review is only for the Swirls! I've eaten here before but only under the influence of the Swirls so I really have no idea what I even ate and if it was good or not. The last time I came here, I was dumb and had 3 Swirls. Really. I shoulda stopped at 1! Seriously, they have a disclaimer on their Swirls menu saying that the max that anyone should have is 3. And of course, I push it and get the limit, 3. UGH nightmare!! Anyways, take it from me. Take a LONG NICE TIME in drinking ONE of these bad boys because they will creep on you. If you're feeling ok in the next hour, MAYBE have another. Other than that, worst. hangover. ever. Don't get me wrong though! I give these swirls 5 stars because they are so delicious and get the party started! The last time we went a few weeks ago, it was PACKED. People were hovering around us trying to get a seat! This is the best for a hot summer day!

Great service Great environment Note: the swirls are dangerous. Drank 3 and blacked out. My brother later told me that there's a sign that says "recommend no more than 2." Overall: a good place to go and hang out

Great place to grab a drink, food and sit around with friends. Their drinks are strong, my favorite is lemon drop, easy on the sugar, extra lemon, and a dash of the industrial strength margarita. I've been here countless time and leave happy each time.

Poor customer service Had my wifes birthday event at Snell location. We had 15 guest 10 were our kids and spouses celebrating Mom's 57th birthday. We all arrived about 6:15 pm. All had dinner and Hella swirls with the exception of the designated drivers. Everyone enjoyed themselves. We closed the place down did not leave until 10:15 or so. Here begins the problem as concerned parents we left one of our kids vehicle in the parking lot overnight only to find the car gone when we returned about 7:15 am. Called SJPD who informed us the car was towed. There were no signs indicating cars would be towed. We parked directly under a light pole. Towing company did not care if there were no signs, they only wanted their fee of $380.00 They did say they had picked the car at 4 am. Aqui's would take no responsibility on the towing. Hell they told me to complain to the property owners. Hope you all understand why I am posting this Aquis cares not what happens to their customers safety or goodwill they only care for their bottom line..put this in perpective each had about 3 rounds of drinks at 9.00 a drink x 12 people drinking add dinner for each person. Not bad revenue for Aquis and towing company. I informed Aqui's management I would posting in Yelp to let others be aware of this poor customer services. They claim they have signs all over the restaurant advising of parking pass. Really I responded if only one employee would have been kind enough to verbally inform us of the parking pass none of this would have taken place. My next step will be social media Aquis does not care about people drinking and driving.

This place always makes me feel like I got a healthy meal. And without fail it is delicious. I'm never disappointed and I'm always into trying the chef's specials because it not only never disappoints; it always delivers a fresh and pleasing new experience. Huge fan of this place.

First of all Happy Hour is 4pm-6:30pm. I know, because I didn't make it (lol). Anyways, you've probably seen pictures on Yelp and wondered how great this place is. Let me tell you that the prices are a bit high for your typical enchilada, but the quality is surely there. The restaurant itself is surprisingly nice; everything is clean, the tables are consistently being cleaned, TV's on the wall showing the game, what else do you need. Oh that's right, they also serve alcohol. In fact, they have a bar area to the left when you enter, but you can also order the infamous Swirl to the right (where you order food). Since it was my first time, I asked the cashier what their most popular Swirl was since they have 4 options (ask about the specialty drink of the day!). Easy question, she told me that it was clearly their Paradise Patron swirl, so of course, I had to get that. Sipping it little by little, I think, "This isn't too bad. I wonder why they highly encourage people to stop at 2, and limit them a 3?" Well, as I'm halfway done with my swirl, my friend comes back with his 2nd (mind you, he is a tank), so in my feeble attempt to catch up, I down the rest of my drink and prepare myself for another. Okay, there is no question why they say that these drinks are strong because it all hit me at once. Granted, it's nice to hit that state on as little at $8, but I highly encourage you to take your time with it. Overall, this family-friendly restaurant is what I'd call a "nice" Mexican restaurant. Maybe next time I'll make it for happy hour and hit the 2 swirl milestone.

This for take out review. Stopped in to pickup two South West Caesar salads. The restaurant was packed on a Tuesday night; so it did take 12 minutes to make. After we got back, I noticed it was packed with fresh romaine lettuce, black beans , mex. cheese and pumpkin seeds. And for two dollars more you can add the grilled chicken, which I did. The chicken tasted freshly grilled. It's a good sized salad for approx. $9.90. Two light eaters could share it. When I arrived the sun was setting and they have a choice patio with plenty of flora; good vibes were abounding. Def. a place to hang out and chill on a warm and sunny evening. I'll go back. Decor: ok and fun. Clean. Customer service: good.

Not my favorite Aqui's, but the closest one to me now since I moved. However, the food is still delicious & the service is still great! I love that there's outdoor seating with lamp warmers for cooler weather. Very clean & quick service overall. I love coming in for Sunday brunch & used to get the Aqui hash, however it's since been replaced with the crab cake hash (which is still yummy). The guac is pretty awesome, too! The mango & chicken salad is a good salad if you're looking for something with more greens. There are also daily specials that are pretty yummy & usually change monthly so keep an eye out!

I love Aqui! One of my favorite south bay restaurants! I have been to three of their locations: this one, the Willow Glen one, and the Campbell one. Although this wasn't the first location I ever visited, I think this one is my favorite just because of the location is pretty close to me. Honestly, all of them are great and you can't go wrong with any of them! The decor is pretty unique. It's like Mexican/ancient Aztecs/Montezuma meets industrial metal. To order, you go up to the cash registers where they have laminated menus for you to look at, and then you place your order and they give you a buzzer to let you know when your order is ready. No tip needed! :) It's pretty much all self serve, so you get to choose your own table, etc. I highly recommend the sonoma goat cheese quesadillas. They are my favorite item off the menu, by far! I also like getting the agua frescas. They have different flavors throughout the week. I have yet to try the swirls since I have not been since I turned 21, but I would like to give them a try sometime. The desserts are all great. I've practically tried everything off their dessert menu and I have not found any that I didn't like! To name a few, they have a flourless chocolate cake, a few different types of cheesecake, etc. The dessert menu is written on a chalkboard they have next to the cash registers so it varies per day. They also have the Specials of the Day and other temporary items listed there. This place gets SUPER crowded around prime lunchtime and dinner time. I would definitely say that this is the busiest location out of the 3 that I have been to, so you might want to plan accordingly.

This place is very close to home, and is our go-to place to grab dinner when no one feels like cooking, or to hang out with friends. The food is good, and fresh for the most part, and there is enough variety to keep most people interested. They do tend to use the same mixes and ingredients through a lot of dishes, so it does tend to taste all the same after a while if you go as frequently as we do. Personally, I like Aqui's unique menu enough that it doesn't bother me. They have a Sunday brunch which is great, though I wish this particular location would open before 11am (like the downtown Campbell one). Beat thing is of course their famous industrial margaritas, and specifically the staple swirls. It's definitely bang for your buck, and refreshing on warm summer nights. I like trying all their seasonal specialty swirls, however, they cost more and are lesser in volume. NBD if you're a lightweight like I am, but if you really want to get your drank on while on a budget, stuck to the regularly available swirls. One thing, every single location is PACKED on prime nights (Th-Sat). Because of this, we try to hit it early in the week, or for a meal at off hours.

Don't ever drink more than two swirls. Stuff is so lethal I woke up with my life in shambles @___@

People say that they go here for the drinks. Well I don't drink but that must be true cause it's certainly not the food. Or burrito was fried, lacked flavor and sauce, was one of the smallest burritos I've ever seen and the sauce that it did have was literally salad dressing... The one thing they had going for them was that the chips were decent. All 5 of them I was given as a"side " tasted how chips are supposed to taste which is way more than I can say for that strange burrito.

Love this place! Started going when it only in Willow Glen. Super excited when they moved to Blossom Hill- now we need them down in Morgan Hill/Gilroy too! Great swirls. Their food is always fresh and innovative. Gets packed in Friday nights. Good brunch also but note the Blossom Hill Aqui's opens at 11am for brunch! Not one minute earlier! Wish they would consider opening a bit earlier like 10. Overall never a bad experience and the cashiers are always cheerful and helpful.

As I first walked into this place I was feeling a little thirsty so I went straight to the bar and got one of the special swirls or something and I downed the shit out of it, I ain't gonna lie that shit gave me a instant head change. Definitely a buy. It's my first time being here so I ordered an adobo chicken burrito but they gave me white chicken, but I wasn't tripping it was still hella bomb with unlimited sour cream and chipotle sauce. Atmosphere is really nice to hang out with friends and chill. Definitely coming back, especially for the cute women that lounges around. XD

Consistently great Cali-Mex food in San Jose. I dined there several times on my last weeklong trip to the area and haven't found anything that didn't impress me. The food is super fresh and delicious. The guacamole is something special. I absolutely love the salsa bar. This will definitely be one of my first stops when I come down to San Jose.

Nobody has mentioned the flourless chocolate cake-it is fabulous! Whether or not you want to be gluten free, try this dessert. Most of the year, it's the only dessert they serve. It isn't even on the menu. But it is on the menu board and they have a sample of it sitting there on display with the daily meal specials. Oddly, they call it "Flourless Mexican Chocolate Cake;" it would make more sense to call it Mexican Flourless Chocolate Cake. I give Aqui four stars instead of five for the awkward feng shui they have in there.

Tex-Mex style food. Great place to go with the coworkers for a nice sit down lunch. They serve industrial strength margaritas, which I'll have to try while not on work duty.

Very fresh and very tasty. A great healthy, fresh spin on Mexican. Ambiance nice and prices were reasonable. Just a couple dollars more than chipotle, but many more options and more "gourmetish". Would love to come back and have one of those margaritas.

Love the swirls, say no more. My favorite thing to eat here is the salmon salad, so fresh & good. During the summer the large patio gets pretty packed. Be careful with the swirls though, they hit you all of a sudden and nobody should drive even after drinking one. Be safe & enjoy!

Ah, the more Aqui... the better! I always forget this location even exists. Well I finally remembered and went to give them a try. They did not disappoint! yum the place: it seems like a good-sized location. it wasn't super busy in the restaurant part when we went, but bar was quite lively. we found a table with no problem. everything was clean. service: they really do seem to hire well at Aqui. people were very friendly and helpful at the counter. and they get your order processed fast. the kitchen cranks out food in no time. i love that you don't have to wait long, but still get good fresh food. the food: i have a love affair going on with the goat cheese quesadilla. well, and a little fling on the side with the hummus and chips. omg... both are soooooo delicious! they serve up the hummus at the order counter, so it's instant gratification. just a tip... when they ask if you want hot sauce, the answer is YES! when paired with the hummus, it's not spicy. Trust me, i do no do spicy at all... and i always ask them to give me extra hot sauce. it really make the dish. ok, and the goat cheese quesadilla... really good, very unique dish. they put corn in it, which gives a nice bit of crunch and a fresh taste. and really... what's not to love about goat cheese??? heaven. the drink: paradise patron swirl. every single time. oh yes... it's just wonderful. now i will warn you. you might feel fine after one and think to yourself, "i could go for another." yeah, while you're drinking the second one, the first one will suddenly sneak up from behind, join forces with drink #2, and yowza... all of a sudden... you go from fine to semi-drunk in about 30 seconds. does that stop me? lol.. no. cuz they are soooo good! i've tried the lemon drop swirl. it's good. but i still favor the paradise patron. ok, now that i've written this... i'm thinking i have my dinner planned for tonight ;)

Me n the family always cone here for drinks before wr go out to the club. They serve a drink called a swirl. It comes in 3/4 drink flavor. My favorite is the paradise swirl. They have a 2 drink minimum cause they are that strong. Great food and great service. Always clean environment.

  • Mark D.

It's not very authentic but then, it doesn't claim to be. It is however, a healthy option for Mexican. The dishes are prepared with good ingredients and the prices are very reasonable. The carnitas was so good I've ordered the same thing all 3 times. It was around $8. They have a great Arnold Palmer in case you like the iced tea-lemonade combo.

    (4)
  • Rachel C.

The four stars are for the swirlies only! industrial strength tequila for $8? I'm usually good after half of one, but if its a good night I can do two. heh heh. Don't usually remember any of the food here, chips with salsa& guac is good though.

Who ever hasnt gone to this place should come asap. Aquis is infamous for their swirls which are great and fun:) but their food and service were the reason for the 5 star. Very gourmet quality food that wont hurt your wallet and also fast service. This is place is so lively ,full of energy, and good vibes. Nothing but good things to say about this place.

My date took me here, and I am impress with this place. The food is delicious, and their swirls are the best! I had "lemon chicken" salad, and sunrise swirl, and they were extremely good. I like the staff, super nice and welcoming. Eating at the outside tables was really nice. I would definitely come back here and try all the other food they have on the menu. There is nothing bad that I can say about this place, because overall, it has become my favorite place to go to and eat and drink. :)

  • Thomas N.

Friday night was beyond packed. Even on the patio. Restaurant closes at 10 and we got there around 9. Ordered the Pork Enchiladas. It was ok. I've had better. It came with rice and beans. I hardly touched the rice. And I don't like beans. Did not get any margaritas or alcoholic drink. However, I did have the arnold palmers. Must try? Ehh.. Will I try it again? Only if I have to.

A 'healthier' and Americanized Mexican place to eat. This place reminded me of Sonoma Chicken coop since you look at the menu, stand in line, order, get a buzzer, find a table, and pick up your food when your food is ready. The 'smaller dishes' was a perfect portion for me (Was hungry but not toooo hungry and didn't have to put it in a to-go box) I enjoyed the grilled salmon w/ the potato fritter The hubby enjoyed his angus beef burrito. Those swirls (industrial strength margaritas) got the parentals on a nice buzz :) It was pretty entertaining :)

  • Michael B.

The food here is excellent, but unfortunately I had a bad experience with Gabriela. She was rude over the phone and rude when I picked my order up. I've never left one bad review on Yelp, but the owners and manager should be notified when they have an employee that obviously doesn't want to be there.

Had lunch there a couple of weeks ago. Ordered the Salmon Taco's, .unbelievably delicious! Salmon was cooked to perfection and a very generous portion was given. Had the Black Beans and Fruit with it. Very healthy and delicious lunch. Cannot wait to return and have this again.

  • Michael S.

Note: this review would be 5-stars if it were only regarding their signature "Swirls" and their friendly staff. But, unfortunately, the food must factor in to this review. A fun place to take friends but don't expect to be "out for the night" because you'll only be there until about 10 PM before they begin to stack your chair on top of the table you're eating on. Yes, oddly enough, the hours here bother me for a place that serves drinks that land you on your backside. Maybe they don't want to deal with a drunk and rowdy crowd night-in and night-out so that won't factor into my review because I wouldn't want to deal with that either. But the food... the food brings this place down. It's just not good. Maybe after a Swirl or three.. But eating Aqui's sober isn't anything to brag about. I understand they are attempting to be a healthy Mexican restaurant which, I'm sure, is hard to pull off, but the entrees are just lacking. Believe me, I love healthy food and I love to have that option, but the flavor just isn't there. Also, the serving sizes (for what they cost) are very small. It's one thing to eliminate calories by the way food is prepared but it's another thing to claim a meal is "healthy" when half of it is missing. My tip: eat at home and save your money to come here for Swirls afterwards.

  • Louis D.

I don't know why I haven't written a review before, because the wife and I eat here at least once a month. First of all, this is NOT a Mexican restaurant. If you come here expecting such, you will be sadly disappointed with the exception of a couple of menu items that might be considered Cal-Mex. However, if you want to try innovative items, with a California/Mexican profile, definitely try this. Check their website for their daily specials, and daily roll ups for innovative items, and there are also un-published chef's specials that you don't know about until you get there. If you see something on the daily special that looks interesting, get it because you may never see it again (the duck flautas that were once available were amazing - never to be seen again). Specials seem to be available for 4-6 weeks, and I have been seldom disappointed. Fresh, seasonal items, nothing seems to be from frozen or canned. For cocktails, exercise caution when having their industrial strength margaritas and swirls. They are serious about recommending no more than two, and they will cut you off at three. You may think you can handle more than two, but I guarantee you will be acting the fool if you over do it.

The food was good. I like that they have a few good vegetarian options. I had the avocado dips with chips and vegetarian enchiladas. The dip was just ok. I paid $6.95 for it which I think is a bit too much for salsa and chips. The enchilada was $9.95 and worth every penny. It was good and flavorful. I would have given them 5 stars but 1 less for the bad service and 1 less for the over priced chips and salsa.

The restaurant is located in the middle of a parking lot. I'm not exaggerating. They built the thing in the middle of the parking lot near a freeway. All the other stores hang out in the back drop. Weirdest location for a restaurant ever. Not exactly a romantic or imaginative location to travel to. Food was good, but their margarita "swirls" were overly sweet and I was annoyed about how crowded it was. Casual seating is fine, but without a pleasant view, the only thing to look at was big screen TV's. Which is okay if you're there to watch the game, but terrible if you want to have any meaningful conversation. There is an outdoor seating area, but again nothing but white walls as a view. If it wasn't for the food, this place would get a one star.

  • Christal M.

Clearly the main reason people come to aquis is for the swirls! I don't blame them. The swirls are exactly what everyone expects then to be. Sometimes they can be too sweet and sometimes too strong, the point is they get the job done! All it takes is one and that's all you need after a long day at work! The food is on the healthier side and a bit pricey for the portions, but still good. You can't compare aquis to typical Mexican food because that wouldn't be fair and that's not what they're trying to sell. The food is good and I could only suggest they either lower the prices according to their portions or make the portions bigger. Besides that, aquis is great! Most of the time it's packed and hard to find a seat, so come prepared to stand around looking. Don't let it scare you away because clearly it gets packed for a reason. Give it a shot!

+ Location, convenient + Parking easy and abundant + Swirls, of course, after a long work day! - Food I've eaten here a few times, Willow Glen one a few times. The food was always ehh. The flavors were ok, normal, mediocre. I've never had a memorable meal

I like the vegetarian options + salmon dishes . Good quality food however do not like only after 2 pm daily specials . Every time I called to place order they told me only after 2pm also I liked the old menu . I still recommend this place.

Aqui's has recently become one of my favorite places. I have always been a fan of it, but I really enjoy it more so these days. This is counter service, so don't expect some fancy restaurant. However, their food is top notch quality. Everything I have had here is always super fresh and made with high quality ingredients. The menu seems to change slightly every few months to keep things interesting. I don't think I have ever had a bad meal from here. They have an huge selection of awesome vegetarian dishes, and I highly recommend either the sweet potato taquitos or the enchiladas. My husband always orders one of the specials, and he is always quite happy. The price is outstanding -- 2* cost for 5* quality. I also love their fresh fruit juices. Their margaritas are strong and will sneak up on you so just be careful! All in all a great place!

The swirls are good but the service is Terrible! You can hardly ever get a table and there must be something wrong with the plumbing because the outside sitting sometimes smells like a bathroom. The worst part is their staff. The black "waiter" is especially rude. His only job seems to be harassing customers as he definitely doesn't serve. I've seen him harass so many guests every time I've come. Don't bother paying the price for this disaster when there are so many other choices in this city!!

I did not expect this place to have a Sonoma Chicken Coop type of feeling. You stand in line, order your food, and then you get a buzzer when your food is ready. I had the Southwest chicken taquitos. They are rolled in a red corn tortilla. The food wasn't all that bad. I kinda felt that it was already cold by the time I got to my table though. I also had a sangria swirl! These babies are strong! Being Asian, I turned red but I didn't expect to turn THAT red and get a hard buzz off of one! It was quite delicious though! They also cut you off at 3 swirls, just in case :)

Awesome environment, very kind staff, good food, strong drinks - 5 stars MINUS one star for the obnoxious parking towing. The owner of this Aqui also owns the parking lot outside. Despite postings everywhere stating that cars are towed after midnight, my friends' cars were both towed at 10:00 PM. Not cool.

My grandson loves this place, I don't know why because I find the food very bland, looks beautiful, yes maybe it's healthy, but it's almost flavorless. The Tortilla Soup was good, not great, but good. The special of fried chicken looked beautiful on the sample platter, but again, no seasoning and flavorless, but it must have some appeal to someone because every time we go out, our grandson wants to come to Aqui, go figure and I always leave thinking, my cooking is much better, should have stayed home.

My parents doubted me. My friends doubted me. My wife (gf at the time) doubted me. But now everyone is on board... If you're looking for great, healthy, fresh, not salty, not fatty, "I can attitude after dinner" then this is the place for you. It's a Mexican-American food that's healthy! The swirls are tasty and potent. One of those drinks put me out of commission for a few hours. I am a light weight (light weight in drinking, not in pounds). I'm proud to admit that this is one of my favorite restaurants around. I recommend the salmon roll up without bbq sauce with the soup of the day. It's refreshing, healthy, not processed, and tasty. I usually pair it with their killer black bean dip. Their daily specials are great deals too. Portions are not huge but that's ok since I'm aiming to live beyond 80. All workers are friendly. I never gave it a chance until a few years ago but now I'm a regular. Don't let the name fool you.

  • A. T.

The Swirls are amazing, but the food is so-so. Usually, we just come for a swirl and endless chips and salsa. Parking can be difficult. Finding a table is also difficult as well during the dinner rush. There have been a few times that I've stood there with my tray of food, waiting for a free table. So look for a table before ordering!

  • Adrian P.

Love the swirls here. Definitely be careful of how fast you drink them! I dont necessarily love the food here but it is decent. Normally I go here for drinks and then get the enchiladas. Last night I tried the crab wraps and well, they taste like how they sound nothing that stands our that much. If you have not already, dont be afraid to stray away from the normal swirls! The specials are just as good. The chavelas are especially delicious here!

  • Joanne C.

Their swirls do you good (or no good if you can't handle your alcohol, lol). I had the Firecracker Chicken Tortilla Roll-Up and it was delicious! It was small, but it's served with their soup. I picked the soup of the day which was this potato-jalapeno and it wasn't spicy at all. I didn't taste any jalapeno and it was kinda salty. I wouldn't get the soup again.

Great food and fabulous Swirls. We had a bad experience last week when our designated driver, who drove someone home and left his car overnight in the parking lot, returned at 7:15 AM to find the landlord had his car towed and impounded. He had to pay $280!!! Apparently, 3 days later the Aqui owner has worked out a solution. Too late for us. The manager will issue an overnight pass to anyone who needs to leave their car overnight. Nice idea. Again, too darned late for US!!!

Went here for my sisters birthday and wasn't expecting much. Blew me away! I don't like the walk-up and self seating service, but other then that, everything is amazing!! Food is great, drinks are great, service is OK. Only because of the self seating and ordering.

This place is always very busy. Probably the lack of better places to go in the area. The food here is on par with other Aquis, which always leaves me wanting more. The swirl drinks are good, if not a bit overpriced. Can't blame them, people keep filling this place up. The bar area isn't bad, but you can never find a seat in there. They have a few TVs if you do find a spot at the bar, but you'll be less crowded if you find a divey sports in the area. They go for healthy portions, which is ok if the prices reflect it, but you pay the price you would at any other restaurant, just with less food. Again, pricing is a product of demand, something they certainly are not short of. If I had a choice, which sometimes I don't based on those I'm dining with, I'd go to burrito factory across the street. Probably better food for much less in cost. The outdoor area they have is nice, but they don't let you move tables around if you are in a big group. I just don't get why they are Nazis about this. And when I went to smoke on the sidewalk on the side of the restaurant (a public sidewalk mind you), I was asked to step a half a block down.

They have good drinks. Than they're employees attack you for having 2 drinks. Never coming back to this Aquis.

  • Delayna N.

Not even through half of my second drink and the bartender ladies attacked me. I bought my boyfriend a drink for when he got here but they didn't want to listen to me. A bartender came up to me saying they would take a drink from me (again, hardly drank and I still feel sober. The other drink is in front of my boyfriend because he just got here and they don't once mention "refund"). I feel absolutely discriminated and embarrassed. Will never come back to this location and never recommend it to anyone.

  • Cat N.

The Swirls are a great deal that get the job done, even if they're not the most delicious drink I've ever had - but I'm biased against anything with vodka in it. $7.50 for a huge glass, and there's even patron in it. The food is also just average in taste, but the hummus bowl was huge enough that seven of us couldn't finish it, and there's a free chips and salsa bar to help you soak up the alcohol. My vegetarian taquitos tasted strange (but not awful), and the same goes for the thai chicken burrito. But that's probably my friend's fault for ordering thai-anything at a place with "cal-mex" in the name.

Pros: -Try the "swirls"-1 will get you tipsy -Wide selection of dipping sauces for chips -Great Ambience Cons: -Have to find your own seats after you order, sometimes it will get packed and you will have to stand and if you get a table, you will have to clear the dirty plates

This review is solely for their Swirls. One plus about this location is the Swirls are definitely stronger than the ones in Campbell or Willow Glen. Half a Swirl is all you need to get a girl DRUNK! There are 3 different flavors: Sangria, Sunrise, and Paradise. Be careful of the swirls since they are creepers. I've never had more than 1 1/2 swirls and I've get TIPSY big time with just one swirly!

This was our first visit to this Aqui restaurant. We have been to the three other locations and the food and service was always excellent! Today, the food was okay. Ordered the chicken/avocado wrap and received the chicken wrap special which contained rice instead. I brought it to the attention of the counter person and she immediately took it back and brought me the wrap that I had ordered. It was okay. I think they forgot the avocado but I was hungry and didn't have too much time for lunch. Salad could have used a little more dressing. Don't think I will try this Aqui's again. Willow Glen and Cupertino food was much better.

5 stars for the patio at this location. Way more seating than WG or Campbell. Food, as always is great and fresh. Gotta love the Swirls, including all the newer flavors. Some of my all-time favs include: Sonoma Goat Cheese Quesadilla, Adobo Chicken Burrito, West Coast Salmon, Thai Chicken Bowl and California Enchiladas.

  • Dexter H.

Above average place for "Cal-Mex." Tastes corporate, but still pretty good at its best. Always get the specials, because they put way more effort, creativity and flavor into them then their regular dishes. The specials are always changing so its a lot of fun to see what they have. The facilities are clean and pretty nice in side. Its a good go-to place for groups or when you can't figure out where to go.

  • Sunny C.

Aqui is one of those places you just can't go wrong with. It's a great spot for lunch and the perfect place for an after work happy hour. Food is always fresh and the daily specials menu board is always filled with something unique to keep your taste buds coming back for more. They're pretty well known for their industrial strength margaritas and they hit the spot, especially on a hot summer day. Try the sangria swirl! My usual here are their cuban pork enchiladas and the bbq quesadillas. The dip sampler by itself is pretty bland, so i recommend taking it directly to the salsa bar and adding some spicy salsa and sauces to jazz it up.

A favorite of our friends and family. Nobody can ever get enough of those Industrial Margs. The burritos are bomb and the salsa bar is great for doctoring up your taco. My recent favorite are the salmon tacos. Total relaxed vibe inside. Its what Chevys wants to be, but cleaner and with a tastier menu. Pro tip: start lunch with a Patron Swirl.

  • Amber W.

I've been here twice now, and both times I have really enjoyed my meal and margarita. This is not "authentic" Tex-Mex. It's more like Tex-Mex Fusion. Service is good - but keep in mind that your order at the counter and pick up your own food, so it's not your typical sit down type of restaurant. The food is fresh and well prepared, with creative sides and sauces. All together, a perfect place to go have a casual lunch or after work drinks!

  • Shannon C.

I live right down the block from Aqui and my husband and I go, at the very least, once a month. You can't go wrong with their wide variety of Cal-mex food. If you are looking for authentic Mexican food, this is NOT the place. If you understand that, you are in for a treat. My favorite entrees by far are the Lemon Chicken (a huge portion considering it is on the "small plates" portion of the menu), Fajitas and Thai peanut bowl with chicken. Of course, there main reason for popularity is their swirls... and that is not for bad reason. They are affordable, delicious (there are a number of different options) and strong, with an emphasis on the STRONG. This is the case so much that they limit the swirls to TWO per person. There is a reason they are called swirls. After just one you will feel a bit swirly whirly, for sure. The one downside to this place is how difficult it can be to find a table sometimes, especially on nights when there is a sports game (they have a number of TVs in the bar area), and Thursdays through the weekends. Thankfully Sushi Okawa is just a walk away and our standby if Aqui is too busy to accommodate us which has only happened on a couple of occasions.

Came here on Valentine's day and had a great time. Austin was super helpful and even gave me samples of the swirls so we could pick just the right one!! Thanks Austin for all the help =]

Aqui is not a traditional Mexican joint. Call it fusion or Cali-Mex or whatever. But the food is creative, fresh, very tasty and reasonably priced. I have a tough time turning down the crab cakes, every time. Surprisingly, their bar scene is generally crazy in the evenings, in a good way. The facilities are very clean, their food prep is quick, and I generally have no complaints. Correction: not sure why I only gave it 4 stars. Meant to give it 5.

Fresh healthy Mexican food. Delicious, not expensive and fast! Best part is sitting out on the patio drinking margaritas. Gets crowded for this area. Lines move fast though.

Aquis has great food, well priced and I LOVE the swirls (don't drink more than two because you won't be able to walk). My review would have been 4-5 stars however my real problem with this place is the lack of tables/seating. If you go to the Campbell location after 5 pm you'll be fighting for a table with 10 other yuppies. When I go out to eat I like a relaxing, enjoyable experience so we *never* go there after 5 pm-we learned the hard way!

We eat here usually once a week. The specials are always great, along with the regular menu items. I love the theology of the company & it shows in the work of their employees. Meals are delicious and portions are just right - not too much. It can get busy at peak times and can be difficult to find seating.

I love the swirls and I love the fresh guacamole... That's about it. I've eaten here a few times and the food is just not that good at all. Took my 2 older kids for dinner here last night. It was my son's first time. My son got food poisoning and my daughter feels queezy as well today. They both had something with the "chicken adobo". Stay away from the chicken adobo!

This was my first time trying this chain. I ordered spinach salad with the crab cake. Absolutely amazing especially with the mango on the side of the salad. Looking forward to coming back!

I like the concept but this place is all wrong. Went there the other day on a Tuesday and it was packed, complete chaos. It's just gotten too popular and they can't keep up and it's gone all downhill. I ordered the Polenta Kale Bacon wrap special with the soup. We got some chips and salsa and a Patron Paradise drink which was good. My food came and wrap was cold and missing the bacon. It was SO crazy in there I just ate it and later went back to check on the bacon, they gave me a side of bacon to remedy the situation and then later they came over and gave me my money back. Now i've had the runs for two days from it, just sharted in my underwear! NEVER GOING BACK!!!

Great food, great decor, great prices. The Service was okay. I'd go here again. The grilled mahi mahi was delicious. The salad that came with it was fresh and crunchy. Veggie soup was very tasty and will order that the next time I go there. I didn't like that it wasn't a sit and serve type restaurant. You have to order your food at the cashier area and they will then give you a remote buzzer to let you know that it's ready. The good thing is that you don't have to tip since no one served you.

The food is fast, fresh, and very tasty. There is always new specials which is fun, and a delicious brunch menu on Sundays. Cant go wrong with the enchiladas. Make sure you don't go at a busy time unless you want to stand around waiting for a table.

I only had drinks and appetizers here, but I can comment on those things and the overall vibe. The sangria swirl did what it needed to. With one yummy glass, I was in a great mood and munching away. The glass is big and tasty! It's fixed right in front of you, so there's no surprising skimping going on. The same goes for their sampler. It's made to order and all of the goods are plopped on the plate right in front of you. So there's no waiting to munch on something while you, well, wait for the rest. My family and I ate outside, because there are many of us and we're not a quiet bunch. This made me really excited that they had a patio, especially given that the temps drop with the sun in CA. So it's nice to enjoy the breeze after one of the rare almost 90 degree days. With that said, we also had to choose outside because it would have been difficult for them to accomodate a large party inside. I understand why they don't take reservations during the week, and allow self seating, but I sort of wish they had once they found out how many of us were going to be in attendance. It all worked out, so the complaint is only a minor one. I'd go back.

I just can't like this place. It's not even Mexican food number one and now I went and the bar doesn't even open until 4 o'clock. I have tried but it's just never going to work for me.

I have to say I love this place. They offer so many different things. Their sangria swirl is amazing. Their food is tastes great. Its a healthy choice for mexican food. The only downside is that it is so loud. Its a popular place attracts a crowd. Not the best place for a first date but great for the family to go to.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
